Hello!
Does anybody know which institutions can carry out pattern evaluation tests
of sound level meters, according to IEC 1672-2 standard. I guess this would
be NIST(USA), NPL(UK), DANAK(Denmark), PTB(Germany)..., though I only found
on PTB site that they clearly state, that they perform such tests
http://www.ptb.de/en/org/1/17/172/_index.htm
Are such pattern tests mandatory(for SLM to carry out legaly binding
measurements) in every country, or just in Europe, or just in USA, or is it
different from country to country.
Must be SLM tested in each country(in which it sells) by their institution,
or is it enough that it is tested once, for instance at NPL, PTB...
Thank you in advance and best regards, Tomaz

Unlike some of the countries in the EC, there are no mandatory pattern
evaluation tests in the US. NIST would probably perform them, if requested,
at a huge cost. In the US, we depend on the honesty of the manufacturer.
However, since most US manufacturers sell in europe, they usually have them
done to get the CE marking.
