I am tortured by impact noises coming from upstairs.
I sleep with inserts "earsoft" and with a muffler "peltor optime 3".
What else defense to add?
What do you think of a insulated cabinet?
Where to find one?
Thanks

Ant,
Have you tried talking to the upstairs neighbors?  They probably don't
know they are bothering your sleep.  You could offer to buy them some
carpet runners for high traffic areas.  Other that that, you are
looking at rather costly modifications to improve the impact isolation
of the structure.  You might try adding a noise generator in your
bedroom to create a steady background noise such that the intruding
impact noise is not as disrupting.  Sharper Image and Radio Shack have
these devices.

If  the ear protection is not helping much, then you are being bothered
by low frequency noise in which case a cabinet wont help much unless it
weighs a lot - around a ton, fortunately low frequency noise can be
dampened  through active noise cancellation, the only such product I
know is the noise canceling headset made by Bose - find out if they
designed it to work well at low frequencies, but that may be to bulky
to sleep in, it seems to me that it should be possible for a devise to
do quite a good job even from a foot away from your head, perhaps the
professionals on this forum know if there is anything like that on the
market.
