hi all, i'm currently doing undergoing my engineering (graduation) in
computer science, but am really interested in acoustics; both
architectural and musical acoustics..... i want some suggestions as to
how i can use my branch of engg. to go into the field of acoustics....

i wanna know what kinds of software, etc maybe helpful in this
field.... and am really trying get some guidance as to do something in
auditoriom acoustics....

please help!!! thanks you

Well your main competitor will probably be CATT Acoustic.  This is a
very good product with a 3D modeller that uses tail corrected cone
tracing to make highly detailed predictions of an auditorium's acoustic
properties.

Take a look at http://www.catt.se/ for more details

Hi Axay,  indeed there are lots of companies which develop acoustic
simulation software. As I used ONE acoustic simulation software before  but
the 3-D presentations of reults (animination / 3D-plots) were not very good.
I think, this problem was mainly due to programming technique (and not only
due to acoustic knowledge) !! I believe these companies still need
programmers all the time.

Hi,
To combine acoustic & CS fields on same job I advice you to do DSP job.
I mean communication DSP and VOIP. For instance, interesting questions
how modulation techniques and voice protocols define voice quality. A
lot of CS and MATLAB are in :).
Good luck,
Alex
