Hi
I am still doing my 12th and want to get into the field of
biotechnology or genetics.I am verry much interested in these
fields. Can anybody please tell me what are the marks requirements for
these fields.I am not having maths still can i get the admissions for
biotechnology or genetics?

Uhmm, you have given too few informations, I think. For example where
are you from, where you want to study etc. Isn't it just the easiest
way to check requirements at university you are interested to study at?
I'm studying 2nd year od Biotechnology at the University Of Nicolas
Copernicus, Torun, Poland. Requirements were really strict and there
were about 300 people and only 30 could be admitted. Though I had no
problem, because I had free admission related to the extraordinary high
school I have finished (one and only in Poland special school for
extra-talended teenagers - I know, it wasn't humble :P). To admit to my
biotechnology it was necessary (for other students) to have biology,
english and chemistry or physics passed on secondary school certificate
and it's score (given in %) was taken into account as criterion of
admission. Overall rating of %points in ranking showed that to admit it
was essential to have more than 90%, so the requirements were really
high and even worse was the fact, that number of students that could
have been applied was limited. Even though, if you are really
interested in biotechnology and especially genetics, I could instruct
you on this course. I had doubts about righteousness of my studies
choice, but now I'm really satisfied.

lord_squark has given a good reply. Briefly, based on what you wrote,
we can't tell much.

Why not check with local universities or others that interest you, and
see what their requirements are.

Remember, there are top tier and 2nd tier universities -- not that
there is necessarily a clear distinction. So the question is not
simply whether you can get into a univ, but which one. Try for various
ones, and see what happens.

As to math... Good math is a plus. There is much math in modern
biotech. Not having it is a limitation, but still there is room for
you, assuming you have excellence in other areas. Emphasize your
strengths.

Oh, forgive my. I forgot about math. Well, the problem is this I had
not been passing math on my secondary school certificate, because I
don't like math too much and also I thought that it would be
unnecessary in biotechnology. I was wrong, in second semester of bt I
had math and its level has really terrified me. As my math in hi-school
was on the lowest level (I could choose the level of education in math)
and at university suddenly it appeared math to be vital. It even
wouldn't have been so terrible, but consider a situation, when in
secondary school I had geometry, basic calcalations and most of our
lessons we were playing footbal or games in mobile phones even not
being a little interested in what out teachers wanted to deliver to us.
At university in one moment (when I become a participant of lectures) I
had must to know almost everything from range: time series, durations,
integrals, derivatives, differential, spiral patterns, fractal
geometry, mathematical models in biology etc. (I'm not sure about
english names for all these mathematical terms). But despite all, I
passed math and it was even pleasure to learn things, that - I know - I
will need in my further education and use it surprisingly often.
