I please need help on a term to describe a concept. The idea that human
population is the greatest single factor shaping history. The idea that
wars are primarily caused from overpopulation, albeit there are other
factors but the single largest factor is group A has too many humans and
will thence wage war on group B.
Listening to the state of the union speech tonight with its lofty and
idealistic theme of freedom and democracy. I need a science biology term
for that of bringing babies into a world when the environment and niche
in social life warrant it. A term that makes couples and females not
greedy to pollute the world with more people than they can raise in a
decent life. Whenever we see a family in Africa we see women with 7 to
10 kids and no food and no future. When we see a family in Mexico about
to illegally immigrate into the USA we see them with 6 to 9 kids. When
we see poor people in India or China we see them with 5 to 7 kids.
I need a term of biology, that parents can see their environment, their
niche and their society and to take responsibility to not have any kids
if they cannot give them a minimal standard of living.
The Palestinians are at war with the Israelis, and thus the Palestinians
have one of the highest birth rates in the world. People at war produce
kids. Mexico is at war with the USA for it overpollutes their land with
more kids than they can care for and thus they illegally invade the USA.
Earth can sustain about 3 billion humans on renewable energy. And if
Earth had only 3 billion humans now, there would be virtually no wars
and all would be at peace. And there would not be a global warming
threat. And the animals on the endangered or extinction list would
stabilize and rebound.
So, as Mr. Bush gives the state of the union speech, he is mostly
talking about further greed and further erosion and destruction of this
planet. When he says that freedom and democracy should be on the rise
throughout the world, does he mean that women have the freedom to have
as many kids as they feel like it? Does he mean by freedom that human
population should rise to 8 billion then 9 then 10 then 11 then 12
billion?
When this planet reaches more billions of people from its already 7
billion then terrorism increases, then a nuclear war increases, then the
extinction of all animals larger than the size of a dog in the wild is
assured, then global warming intensifies and vast ecosystems are
destroyed, then diseases and plagues increase.
As human overpopulation increases then living standards decrease rapidly
and not just for the middle and lower classes but every class.
Since freedom contradicts planned parenthood where laws are enacted that
you need permission and license to have a child born and where women are
limited in how many babies they can have. So the message of a State of
the Union that is more in tune with this 21st century is one not of
freedom and democracy but one of calling upon the world to freeze human
populations and to have laws limiting the number of children born.
Instead of a International Court for war crimes and inhumanity there
should be a Court that freezed human populations and limits the number
of births.
The past 2 centuries of the USA history have not been much about freedom
but mostly a long list of Greed. Simply look at the Budget Deficit.
Simply look at Social Security where people on SS nowadays make more
money then when they were actually working. I know of many people who
make more money from SS then when they were in the workplace.
Some French philosopher said that Democracy works only until the people
find how to vote money into their pockets and that day of reckoning will
come to the USA in the 21st century. So Democracy fails in the economics
arena but it also fails in the "clear thinking arena" as was noticed in
the 2004 election that religion can win the highest office of
government. So the French philosopher may have missed a important
destructive factor of a democracy in that religion takes over and
destroys the system via its bigotry and inflexibility to let science
decide major political issues.
So in the STate of the Union of February 2005, if I or a scientist
president had given the speech would call for a new term of politics
something of a biological ring such as Environmental Niche. Please help
me out for this term. It would call for a revamp of Social Security for
it is too generous. It would call for a law set in place that a woman is
limited to the number of babies. It would call for a physical barrier
such as what Israel is putting up, only here the USA put up around the
Mexican border. Unless the USA does some drastic about Mexico, then the
USA will be spanish speaking in the next century and all white property
expropriated much the same as in Zimbabwe. The case with Mexico is much
more serious than just guest workers and jobs that Yanks will not do.
Unless the USA realizes the gravity of the problem, then Mexico will
outnumber Yanks and take over the USA.
Instead of freedom and democracy as goals of the 21st century, we need a
newer and higher and better goal. We need to realize in this century
that planet EArth is small and that our human overpopulation is ruining
it. That we need to control population to control pollution and global
warming. What good is it for poor starving disease ridden jobless people
to go to a poll to vote? And as long as populations increase, terrorism
increases. If we control population then everyone borne is a wanted
child and family will be concerned that they do not turn to violence and
antisocial.
So in the 21st century, our new goal is "planned parenthood". Clean
environment and jobs for everyone borne. A Earth that has room for all
wild animals and not another 4 billion more humans on top of the already
7 billion. A planet of people that can sustain itself on renewable
energy.
So instead of grasping of the 19th and 20th century platitude of Freedom
and Democracy, we live in a new world of the 21st century where our goal
is to make living and life on Earth for every human that of a clean
environment, peace, and job and prosperity. Of which none can be
realized unless human population is controlled and limited.
So what the world needs foremost is legal laws freezing human
populations and limiting the number of children per woman.
Human overpopulation is the number one biggest evil and unless it is
controlled all other evils will be a consequence of overpopulation.

The biology term for it?? SEX.
The rationale behind it is pure self-interest. Very hard to change in
primitive societies where personal survival and/or success is measured
by fertility (in turn a measure of virility).
Solutions guaranteed to work: Nuclear war, plague, a comet strike,
coerced mass sterilizations. For now, we need BORDER CONTROL.

I guess biology does not yet have a term for this concept and I have to be
the first to make up this conceptual term.
I say "first" because biology is barren of terms for a "master species"
that dominates a planet. Even though humanity has done a poor job of
ruling over the biosphere. Just as the USA government has done a poor job
of mastering its currency and debt, even though we did have a decade of
surpluses that eliminated the debt under Clinton and then just 4 years
later under Bush we are back to absymal debt.
I once remember watching a PBS documentary about a family that lived in
middle of Wyoming (state) in the 19th century and their hardships and
struggles and finally the mother was taken off the ranch and put into a
old folks home in the nearest large city and her statement leaving the
ranch was:
"I cleaned it up far better than I found it". That is the sort of
sentiment I am wanting to embody in this concept.
That our trip-- which is our life on Earth-- that we leave Earth better
than what we started in life. And the question of betterment rests mostly
on whether we were so greedy as give birth to more people, or were we
humble as to give birth to only 1 child to replace us or better yet zero
children.
It is hypocrisy to run around wanting to save turtles, to save whales, to
save wolves, to save polar bears and go home and have a family of more
than 1 or 2 children.
It is hypocrisy in 1920s to want peace in Europe and then have a family of
more than 1 or 2 children because what brought about WW2 was that Europe
had too many people to sustain themselves and WW2 set the numbers to a
liveable dimension. Same thing about WW1 in that humans do not have the
ability to control their populations and thus a major war is inevitable to
set the numbers sustainable.
Now we have Global deterioration of the environment with entire ecosystems
in jeopardy of being lost forever-- coral reefs, tropical rain forests,
arctic environment, alpine environments etc etc. And humanity is about to
extinct all animals in the wild larger than that of a house-cat.
It is mostly due to one pressure-- human overpopulation. As we go from 6
billion humans to 7 then 8 a nuclear world war is almost guaranteed to
happen. Mass extinctions are guaranteed to happen as human population
nears 10 billion. And at some point the lack of control of human
population threatens the extinction of humanity itself.
The logic here is simply, in that if we as a master species controlling
Earth and unable to ever control our population size, well, then we really
do not have control of much of anything at all.
So as Mr. Bush leads the USA into another 4 years of anti-science, global
warming will increase, human overpopulation will increase, and thus the
approach of a world wide nuclear war plus violent weather plus global
viral diseases and mass plagues never before seen.
An honest State of the Union speech to the USA would have spent 90% of the
speech on freezing human population numbers in all countries and then make
it a legal law licence for any and every woman to have more than 1 child
birth and only with a special license can any woman have more than 1
birth. And spent the other 10% of the speech on a physical barrier between
Mexico and USA and shoot anyone trying to come over that border just as
the Israelis shoot any Palestinians coming over their border illegally.
The most pressing global problem is to get human population in synch with
the limitations of this small planet Earth. Human population should be 3
billion where our energy can be got from purely renewable sources. Where
every human borne has a place in the world to live a decent life and a
happy life and educated life.
Pandora's Box is real and the evil that flys out is the greed of humans to
fill this planet with their children. Do like the woman in Wyoming that
she was happy at the end to have said "I left the place in a finer order
and condition then I had found it". That is what God wants us to do, not
pollute the world, not ingratiate ourselves in our greed and the worst
greed is to give birth to more people than to replacement.
Mr. Bush has a 19th century mind or a 20th century mind in leading the USA
because freedom is a outmoded concept. The concept of the future is that
we enter life and leave it better than we found it. So the freedom Mr Bush
talks about is contradictory in that a woman would give birth to as many
kids as she felt like it. And most countries encourage their women to have
big families. But this is the 21st century and we must go the way of
Science. Science is knowledge and truth. Not the bible that Mr. Bush uses,
nor the platitudes and policies of past presidents.
What we need now is not freedom and democracy, but rather we need to get
ourselves under control and order and that means population size is
paramount.

You've described "domination" by a "dominant species". But everybody
knows what you mean by "master species".
Archimedes, your political science sure makes a hell of a lot more
sense than your science. But don't go round sterilizing everyone yet...

Sorry but your 'idea' is flawed in its basic premise. Almost all wars
are caused by the attempt of one group to expand its wealth/power at
the expense of another group. While this may occasionally have been
caused at its root by the necessity for an expanded habitat or
additional resources to support an expanding population, it is far
from a base factor. Most wars are caused by attempts to expand or
consolidate the wealth/power of a relatively few elite members of a
particular group. In other words greed. Please note the initiators of
the physical conflict are not always the greedy ones. Occasionally
wars occur for reasons of non-economic freedom like personal liberty
or religion. Though usually religion is less of an initiating reason,
but more of an accelerant. Of course religion is also often used as a
opiate in different situtations, by the same elite powers. Promised of
expanded personal liberty are usually simply the carrot, sometimes
relatively plump enough to quantify as an accelerant.
