Required to sterilize a commercial sauna on a regular basis.
Chlorine & bromine are too corrosive.
What about formaldehyde or glyoxal?
We also need an anti-fungal and a miticide an an insecticide as well.
Is there any common gas to do the job? The idea would be to flood thesauna
withthis material and then vent it away the next morning.
Please help.

How about a commercial steamer?

A bit hard on the soft furnishings.

You certainly cant use formaldehyde, because it will soak into
everything that you use and will leach back out slowly over a long
period (it's toxic and carciogenic). You could install a UV system, but
remember that UV will disinfect only those things that are directly
visible to the light.

Hi Scott have you considered Ozone? You can instal an ozonizer with
limited ozone generating capacity. The manufacturer should be able to
guide you in this regard. Give him the area of the sauna and the
manufacturer will tell you howmuch ozone generation is required. Ozone
is effective. The other option i have for you is dilute Hydrogen
Peroxide. Yes you can actually mist this in the sauna. Its equally
effective, leaves no residue per se except water and it will sterilize
your room in under 30 minutes. A misting devise should be avialable
and its essentially an atomizing devise which sprays fine particles of
liquid. In this case the nozzle opening is very small and the liquid
is forced out at high pressure. Let me know what you think of it.

Nope... it wasnt me that was looking for the disinfection (:

Yeah, I'm no expert, but they sound like they could work to disinfect
(not sterilise) the area, especially if there's systems out there
already designed for the purpose.

It will NOT sterilize.
It will reduce counts of exposed vegetative cells of bacteria and fungi.  Those
in biofilms will not be affected nor will bacterial spores.
Get it right.

I already said that.

Uh... ok. People like you really make me wonder.

PS: See the previous post where it says "they could work to disinfect
(not sterilise)"

Wonder - no doubt.

Perhaps you might get an education and then you might know rather than wonder,
moron.
