This is usually named a "rotatable stage" by petrographers, avoiding thus
any confusion with "circular polarization" used by chemists. The polarized
light obtained under petrographical microscopes with 2 nicols is plane
polarized, and not circular polarized. Several links with
google--->"rotatable stage".

I would also add that the starting price looks pretty astronomical to me
- I bought a mint condition Zeiss version - and I do mean the genuine
Pol stage, not a bog-standard rotating stage - plus mounting bracket for
just over half of the $800 starting price last year on eBay. To be fair,
it did not have a condenser rack & pinion (a completely separate item on
Zeiss scopes). It did stage clips though.

Still, an item is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, so ....
