Video Microscopy

We just upgraded our video microscopy systems from tape to DVD.  Great
improvement in quality, but there is a bit of a problem.  We
occasionally like to capture short clips to show during talks, or as
supplemental info for papers.  Problem with the DVD is that there
appears to be some form of copy protection which prevents us from
capturing it using our video capture equipment.

To avoid this we've been looking at direct disk-to-computer capture
using the computers built-in DVD drive.  Problem is that most of the
software out there isn't exactly orientated towards "legal activities",
and tend to be orientated towards copying the whole disk.

Does anyone know of DVD ripping software which can be used to copy only
a small segment of the video?  If needs be we'll rip entire disks, and
edit down from there.  But something a little more straightforward would
be nice.

Thanx

I am well aware of videohelp.com.  I've gone through the entire DVD
conversion section, and tired out most of the software.  The problem is
that all of the programs copy the entire DVD.  We can do that if
necessary, but would prefer to be able to just grab a single clip.
