I recently viewed a cable documentary on rubber duckies used for plotting ocean
currents.  Does anyone happen to have any further information on this, or can
you point me to possible resouces.

Thank you,

Gleshna

A google search on the terms rubber, duck, and currents (and variations
thereof) will produce many web sites.  For many years a loose coalition
of beachcombers have been reporting sightings of flotsam and jetsam to
the Beachcomber's Alert web site at http://www.beachcombers.org/ to take
advantage of spills of opportunity for current tracking.

The scientist who started this is named Curtis Ebbesmeyer.  If you do a
google search for that name you will find some more info on the subject.
There was a research article published in Eos (transactions of the
American Geophysical Union) maybe 10 years ago and I vaguely recall a
couple other articles as well.  An online bibliographical search engine
and the above name will track them down for you.

Have fun.
