Hello, guys,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, so forgive me if I'm
offtopic.

I've been studying media access control (MAC) protocols for wavelength
division multiplexing (WDM). Now I'd like to simulate some of those
protocols. What tool/application/programming language would you recommend?

Thanks

Most protocol stuff is done in Linux.  You actually want the computer
science linux networking newsgroup.  I can't remember the actual title
but if you google it you will easily find it.  It has been a while since
I did networking stuff.  Never actually did MAC myself, mostly UDP,
TCP/IP stuff.  I am sure they can help you out over there.  It is a very
active group.

Best Regards,
P. Danek
