UMmmm, well,.......I don't think there were any human fossils

Even Neanderthals which had a larger capacity cranium on average than modern
man, would not likely have achieved this size 300,000 ago ... perhaps 100,000
years ago or even more recent.

Religion is a crutch, but that's okay... humanity is a cripple.

Hello Thomas T Veldhouse,

Read your reply here and have to agree. Did you by any chance
see a special DISCOVER issue at the local News stands by any chance?
There's a single page read how one scholar thinks Neanderthal diverged
ONE MILLION years ago from the same lineage that gave rise to Homo
Sapiens? Totally wild speculation IMO.
BTW, Thanks for your reply.

No, I have not seen it; if it is still current, I will buy it, otherwise I
will have to find the article online or at the library.  I think it would be a
VERY interesting hypothesis to read, although all the evidence that I have
seen suggests Neanderthals evolved from late Homo Erectus starting perhaps
400,000 years ago and perhaps as late as about 200,000 years ago IIRC.
Anything is possible though .... reality is what we make of it; a crazy
person's world is just as real and true as yours and mine.

Heya Thomas,

Yeah it's still on the stands but there are two different
Discover mags this month, it's NOT in the mag with the earth photo on
it. It's the other ( larger sized "Special Issue". Just hop over to a
local Borders book store, that's where I saw the mag. You may be a bit
disapointed though since it's only one page long.
Cheers and thanks for your replies.
