Hello,
last weekend I watched a television program
on my local PBS station of Georgia Public Television about the Permian
extinction and early Dinosaurs and the extreme lack of evidence about
dinosaurs of this geological period.
I tried to find out the name of he program to tell one of my
colleagues in the Geology Dept and for the life of me I can not find
out the mane.( GPTV's schedule does not keep programs already
broadcast on the Web page.) I also looked for it using various search
words and phrases; No Luck.
I think it might have been on Nature or a BBC program, because most of
the folks that appeared on it had English and Scots accents.

I'm not an expert in this area but as far as I know, the first
dinosaurs didn't appear until well into the Triassic era. The Permian
era ended 251 million years ago, and as far as I know, the first
Dinosaurs appeared about 220 million years ago. The creatures you're
thinking of and calling Dinosaurs are if I understand you correctly,
in fact Synapsids aka "Mammal-like Reptiles".

228: Eoraptor and Herrerasaurus.

I believe I know the programme in question and IIRC, I watched it on
the History channel. But you could do a search over at YouTube and use
the search terms "Permian extinction".
