At the URL http://www.death-valley.us/article315.html is an article
regarding the first dinosaur tracks ever reported from California--a
story originally published in the San Bernardino County Sun newspaper.
The fossils occur in the Jurassic Aztec Sandstone on California's
eastern Mojave Desert.

That's kind of remarkable.  My impression is that the Aztec sandstone
was mostly a Southern Nevada formation, and this is the only mention
that I've seen of fossils of any sort in it.  I wonder if anyone has
looked for tracks in the rest of the formation.
