Hallo all.
First of all, I apologize for my bad english, I'll try to explain myself
in the best way.
My question is:
Suppose you have to choose a period of time in whitch to settle down
and try to live.
Suppose this period HAS TO BE before 65 millions year ago.
What period is best?
You should consider various aspects: composition of atmosphere,
availability of food,
dangerous predators..
Of course may be some variable is less important than others.
Consider I'm not an expert at all of whatever "paleo" science, so please
be very easy.
best regards,
Claudio

The age of the dinosaurs is full of dangerous preditors. You also have the
absence of most kinds of plants people normally eat. No grass of any kind
means no grain or sugar cane. You do have flowering plants near the end and
some of them might be possible to domesticate or use as food such as the
ginko but untreated their seeds which is what are processed and eaten will
kill you untreated.
If you are writing fiction you might want to take some crops with you. Think
seeds. You might pick the time right after the permian extinction because
you might have fewer nasty meat eaters of the size of a house kind. You
would still want to be able to make things like cross bows or guns along
with pikes if you didn't have rapid fire guns. Some of the small flesh
eaters of the time might be hunting in packs so you would want friends to
watch your back.

Those are exactly the kind of considerations I'm looking for.
Thanks.

What you may want to do is look up the permian extinction on line and at
your library. You might get some books from Amazon.com as well.
