Dear Fellow 'Science' Journalists,

Newly breaking bad news may threaten your livelihood and your sanity.
Statistics reveal there has been a precipitous drop in 'science' journalism
publications on the topic of "global warming". Google now offers statistical
analysis of topic trends, including histograms. Please plug:

http://news.google.ca/archivesearch?hl=en&tab=gn&ned=ca&scoring=n&ie=UTF-8&as_dr
rb=q&as_qdr=m&as_mind=13&as_minm=6&as_maxd=13&as_maxm=7&q=%22global+warming%22

into your browser and play with the interactive histogram. Please note the
>50% decline for 2008 and the month by month decline in "global warming"
publications throughout the beginning of 2008. Applying straightforward
linear extrapolation to the 2008 trend, using a straight edge, predicts that
by October 2008, there will be ZERO publications written by 'science'
journalists on the topic of "global warming". [If you are a 'science'
journalist who has written on the topic of "global warming", please take any
criticism of such straightforward linear extrapolation, using a straight
edge, back to an institute of higher learning where it belongs. It does not
belong here.]

Here are the Google numbers for the last available15 months statistics. Read
them and weep.

8,400 - Jan. 2007
8,980 - Feb. 2007
8,560 - Mar. 2007
10,300 - Apr. 2007
8,280 - May, 2007
8,340 -Jun. 2007
8,400 - Jul. 2007
6,290 - Aug. 2007
7,120 - Sep. 2007
7,220 - Oct. 2007
7,610 - Nov. 2007
9,510 - Dec. 2007
7,110 - Jan. 2008
5,750 - Feb. 2008
3,750 - Mar. 2008

Note that the number of publications in Mar. 2008 is only 36.4% of the
number of 'science' journalism publications on "global warming" published in
Apr. 2007.

Mathematically, there is as much certainty in the prediction of "global
warming" as there is in a linear extrapolation prediction that there will be
ZERO "global warming" publications written by 'science" journalists by
October 2008.

This may imply a kind of 'global cooling" in the diminishing 'profession' of
'science' journalism. Maybe we should all look for new professions.

Best Wishes for a difficult future,

Your Fellow 'Science' Journalist,

Wise Guy

What kind of a jerk ignore instructions?

Learn to read, idiot.

The subject line reads, Latest Statistics Reveal 'Science' Journalists
Totally Bored by "Global Warming" Topic.

If you do not understand the significance of quotation marks you are lacking
in intellectual acuity. Google statistic areas a good measure of 'science'
as are ISI statistics a measure of science. Can you offfer any alternatives?

Of course.
A dictionary to learn how to write "offfer" and a pound of intelligence would
be indicated as well.

I seem to have struck a raw nerve with this tread. Google Scholar catalogs
scholarly publications as opposed to mere 'science' journalism, cataloged
and histogramed by Google. Unfortunately, Google Scholar does not give the
month by month publication statistics. Neverless the statistics that can be
pulled out of Goggle Scholar also show a steep decline in publication
numbers for 2008. Searching year by year for scholarly publications with the
phrase "global warming" anywhere in the scholarly article:

7,460 - 2000
8,810 - 2001
9,950 - 2002
11,300 - 2003
11,300 - 2004
12,900 - 2005
13,600 - 2006
15,200 - 2007
5,990 - 2008

This year, 2008 is more than half finished. If 2008 were to continue the
trend of 2007, there should be more than 7,600 publication catloged by
Google scholar. 5,990 scholarly publications discussing "global warming" in
2008, represents a decine of  21.2%. Based on that decline, one could
predict ZERO scholarly publications including the phase "global warming" in
less than five years. Massive unemployment will harm us all.

Best Wishes for a difficult future,

Wise Guy

Why don't you call him a Nazi so that we can end this thread?

Oh wait; I guess it is ended.

Everybody knows idiots, imbeciles, and three year-olds laugh
at most anything and everything.

Wise Guy,
That is pretty cool.  I didn't know that Google had made this kind of
information available.  I am going to take a look.

Watch it here!  You could be seeing a delay in adding
articles to the Google index.

That may be a very wise idea.  In fact, as the economomy continues to
fail, there will be an increasing market for used cars.  Why not
consider selling used cars as your future vocation.

No, you posted to sci.physics and I reduced your followups to include
only sci.physics.  It is rude to crosspost to multiple newsgroups.
