Can someone point me in the direction of a reference to the synthesis
of Rhodamine 560?  I've found the alkylated Rhodamines (575, 610,
etc.) but I cannot find a prepr for 560.

It might be better to try a search on the proper name of the compound
A quick search on Google shows it as
RHODAMINE 110 (Rhodamine 560, LC 5700)

o-(6-Amino-3-imino-3H-xanthen-9-yl)-benzoic acid chloride
