Hi Group!

I'm looking for any consolidated information/materials/books about
allyl esters and their properties. It's quiet hard to find something
about it, even in internet ;-)

Please, give me at least a tip, how and where to find it.

Thank you in advance,

regards,

Dorota

Allyl esters are free-radical polymerizable resins used in highly
crosslinked systems.  Examples are allyl diglycolcarbonate (CR-39, for
eyeglasses, actually diallyl digylcoldicarbonate) and diallyl
phthalates.

They generally need a good kick to get going, like benzoyl peroxide or
peroxydicarbonate inititators.  Acrylics and styrenics will initiate
with soft stuff like AIBN or ketone peroxides.

Greene, Wuts: Protective Groups in Organic Synthesis (Wiley
Interscience Publ.)

The third volume (1999) has a blue cover, is about 5 cm thick and is
full of references and data - not only about the allyl esters. You
will find your info in the chapter "protection for the carboxyl
group", page 369-413

{Maybe the fourth volume is out already, they autors are pretty good
on updating/expanding the book.} Best luck.
