I am looking for information on BUILDING lasers of all types.
The only book I have seen is the one containing the reprints of the
old Scientific American articles.
There has got to be more than just this.

When I check prices on used lasers and optics, it would seem that
dealers are quite proud of their inventory.
And in many cases, it is quite apparent that the inventory is not
selling for what they are asking.

I would like to ask about sound diffraction. Why does sound bend when it
impinges on rigid immovable obstacles?
[e.g. Noise barrier, the sound is "diffracted" to the shadow zone.]

I just recently heard that acoustic excitation has been used to anneal
welds as the are being made. Crudely, I presume that it would be
analogous to using a tamper for compacting concrete.
