thermodynamics of life07 Mar 2004 22:50 GMT3
Thermodynamically, life is defined to be a set of systems which are
held far from equilibium with their surroundings, and eventhough they
decrease the local entropy, by keeping their selves far from
equilibruim with the surroundings they actually further increase the
Small room diffusion...fact or fiction?07 Mar 2004 20:12 GMT21
Hello gentleman, this is my first, and probably last time to post
here. Since I've recieved no satisfaction elsewhere, I've come to the
conclusion if I don't receive a definitive explanation here, it
doesn't exist. And please accept my apology for posting this question
detecting microphone position06 Mar 2004 07:16 GMT4
I plan to try to experiment with detecting position of the microphone using
two speakers.
I was thinking about placing two speakers about 1m -1,5m apart and measuring
the delay beetween what is played and what is recorded to find distance
Delay of an LC model of a transmission line?05 Mar 2004 22:57 GMT20
I have a way of reasoning spinning around in my head, and I understand
that it is wrong somewhere, I just cannot find out where. It goes like
this.
An acoustic lossless tube can be modeled by a bunch of LC components,
Paging over water05 Mar 2004 21:21 GMT5

speakers to warn approaching vessels 300 feet away!  My question is
does anyone have any idea of an equalizing curve for this application?
Also, what angle would be best considering water temperature,

My company, Soliloquy Learning (http://soliloquylearning.com/), has
developed an educational software product that uses speech recognition
to help children increase their reading fluency.  It is intended

? about hybrid diffusers02 Mar 2004 22:52 GMT4
I need to construct some hybrid diffusers.  Are there any resources
available on the web that would tell me how to calculate the correct
sequence 1'and 0's to form the required 2D grid?

vibration from train  - course, books02 Mar 2004 08:26 GMT4
We in the acoustics department have more and more projects where we
have to evaluate vibration and structure borne noise from train.
That's however not our strong field. We have a basic knowledge but
really need to fill the gap between we acousticians and our geologue
