Calculating sound level thru hole15 Jun 2004 03:07 GMT8
How do I calculate the sound level outside of a room for the following
condition:
Sound Power =105 dBA in a room measuring 5m x 5m x 3m  (LxWxH).
Average room absorption 0.91.  Source is located 1m from wall.  There is
any analogy between an acoustical system and an optical len system ??09 Jun 2004 00:05 GMT9
There are lots of similarities between light rays and sound rays.  For
instances, some predictions on acoustic reflection, refraction, and
diffraction  are based on those of theories of optics.
Now,  I am considering an optical len system.  For examples, parallel light

hi i'm courntly tourning my bedroom into a recording studio and i'm
having some trouble with with acoustis. I've tried and heard of many
diffrent methods.Such as the sabien equation, and a few other math
equations, also using a spectra analyzer and i was also told that its
Why is a minor third not harmonic06 Jun 2004 14:27 GMT7
It's possible to play any major chord using the harmonics of a guitar
string.
So starting with c=100 hz and riding roughshod over harminics for
simplicity.
Acoustic Reflector?02 Jun 2004 16:57 GMT5
Is there such a thing as a near 100% sound reflector?   I know echo's the
word, but some sound is still absorbed by little things like the Grand
Canyon.   I know it sounds dumb, but I am still curious...

is this the right group for designing loudspeakers and cabinets ?
Basilar membrane mathematics of place theory01 Jun 2004 12:22 GMT111
It seems to me intuitively impossible to have something so small as
the basilar membrane in the inner ear that resonates at a range of
frequencies down to 20 hz or so, in the way that it is described by
Von Bekesey.
Help with a drum shop sound problem01 Jun 2004 12:10 GMT3
I am moving my drum shop into a one hundred seventy year old building with
brick and stone walls. I have the first floor and the basement and there are
four small efficiency apartments on the second floor. I need to reduce the
amount of sound transference from the instruments to ...
