MLS / SWEEP signals for measuring RT31 Oct 2005 19:41 GMT11
Regarding to measuring RT,  what is the difference in using MLS or SWEEP
signals as stimulus ?? Which one is better ?
If the guess  RT at 500Hz to be approx. 1 sec, then making use of 1.5 sec
signal length is enough ? Longer signal length is better ?

music - 8 keys in an octave27 Oct 2005 04:25 GMT23
Anyone on this newsgroup know theoretically why there are 8 keys in an
octave in music?  Is it a part of natural harmonic vibration that on the 8th
key you have the same natural frequency but at a different wavelength or
something like that?  Essentially, why are there 8 keys in an ...
Some notes on piano notes.25 Oct 2005 18:23 GMT2
To begin with, try that software:
http://www.klavierstimmen.at/InstrumenteTuner.htm
install the English 30 days version.
See the label "stretch".
special effects from pianos23 Oct 2005 15:05 GMT1
Here are some techniques you can use to create special effects from
pianos.  You will need a piano, and a microphone input to your computer
music mixing software.  A Yamaha Disklavier or similar would also be
useful, but is not essential.
impedance measurement?19 Oct 2005 14:25 GMT2
Hi everyone, I am just figuring out some impedance related problems
using the formula Z = pc in free space where p=density of the medium
and c is the velocity of the sound. It's no problem to work and the
result I get is in kg m-2 s-1, where the -2 and -1 are exponents. How
Calibration - How long does it last18 Oct 2005 23:26 GMT25
I have a question about calibration for slm's and field calibrators.
I vagley remember that a slm's calibration is valid for two years and a
field calibrator for one. I thought that I had read this in a document
some years ago now but I can't remember where.
A Quesstion for the Theoreticians16 Oct 2005 00:08 GMT10
I am looking for an analysis of the frequencies of radial modes in a
circular cavity (room).  The specific case of interest to me is one in
which the ratio of cavity height to cavity diameter is approximately 0.1,
and the highest frequency of interest is such that the maximum ...
Mini Disk Hi-MD for field recording?12 Oct 2005 05:57 GMT4
Anyone any views on the use of Mini Disk Hi-MD as a possible replacement for
DAT field recorders? From what I can find Hi-MD will record in uncompressed
16 bit PCM 44.1kHz format, a disk can hold about one and a half hours of
recording and some models also appear to support date ...
thermal and humid durability for Polyurethan foam10 Oct 2005 20:00 GMT3
for polyurethan foam...
I want to use it at the environment of 60 and 50~70% humidity.
At this environment, polyurethan foam can be durable for long time?
Compressor 2x noise10 Oct 2005 08:52 GMT3
Hello Everyone...
>From FFT analysis, it is known that 2x (twice of rotating
speed)frequency noise is very dominant for centrifugal compressor.
This component is over 10dB than other frequency components.
Seeking Low Cost Improvments to Chapel Acoustics09 Oct 2005 17:09 GMT2
(Just posted this to alt.audio.pro.live-sound, but thought some folks
here might be able to help...)
Our community has a small chapel (35' long by 20' wide, 12' ceiling)
with the following materials materials:
Oboes vs clarinets09 Oct 2005 02:07 GMT9
This is a restatement of a previous post but I now have a better
understanding of how to ask the question. It is based upon a link given in a
reply by ddavis@pb.com.au; http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/~jw/pipes.html.
If I understand correctly, a clarinet using a uniform diameter bore ...
RC vs NR for condo noise05 Oct 2005 14:19 GMT5
Hey all,
I have a situation where a condo owner is being annoyed by bass being
produced by a subwoofer in an adjacent unit. For now, my role is just to
document the levels.
exhaust gas silencers03 Oct 2005 21:21 GMT3
I write a B.sc thesis at the moment. My job is to collect information
required in order to design silencers for big dieselengines such as ship-,
powerplant engines.
My questions is: Are there any good internet sites regarding exhaust noise
