If I want to use PHREEQC-2 to calculate with forms of phosphate (=
hydroxyapatite, amorfous calcium phosphate, octa calcium phosphate,
dicalcium phosphate dihydrate) will precipitate in a range from pH = 7
to pH = 10, T = 25°C in waste water.  What do I have to give in to get
ICP-MS Vanadium30 Jan 2004 23:00 GMT6
Has anyone else seen problems with measuring V by ICP-MS?  Specifically, the
numbers tend to start out fine (cal verifications and QC checks) but the
numbers tend to rise consistently as the run goes on.  By the end of a
standard ~20 sample run the numbers are way outside of QC ...
What affect does AC have on a electrochemical Cell?27 Jan 2004 16:00 GMT2
I am trying to look at different slants to this question and I would like
some input from anyone out there who would like to.
One idea is that if an AC bias is applied to a cell (such as one with two
copper electrodes and de-ionised water) then Under AC an ion will move back

But Siriusly, folks ... The Neofiles Interview
R.U. Sirius, who has an impressive track record of spotting cultural and
technological trends years before the rest of the media pick up on it,
has posted an interview with me on his neofiles Webzine. Mr. Sirius gave

I need a information how to prepare phosphate buffer from phosphoric
acid and natrium hydroxide with pH 2,8; 3,3; 3,8; 4,3; 4,8; 5,3; and
5,8. The ionic strength must be 0,01M.
There are many instruction how to prepare phosphate buffers, but no

Pharamceutical Testing23 Jan 2004 14:01 GMT1
I bought some pills of a rather expensive drug at a discount pharmacy
and before purchasing more wanted to verify the composition of the
pills.  Are there businesses that perform this type of testing?  Is it
expensive?
pH vs conductivity in caustic solutions22 Jan 2004 20:53 GMT4
I would like to convert a couple of pH meters that serve as monitoring
devices for caustic scrubbers to conducivity.  The scrubbing solution
is 25% caustic when it is initial placed in the scrubber, which
basically kills any type of pH meter relatively quickly.  Someone

Help with mass transport in tubing18 Jan 2004 15:23 GMT7
I work for a company that builds moisture analyzers. I am more of an
instrumentation guy than numerical analysis, so am having trouble
making some sense of some data.
The experiment goes like this - we flow nitrogen at 1 slpm which

Removing Wax from Paper11 Jan 2004 08:42 GMT7
I am looking for a chemical or another means that will completely
remove wax that have been rubbed onto paper. The chemical should leave
no stain or residue because I will be brushing on coloured ink over
the previously waxed area. So the paper must be able to re-absorb
Beckman 35 UV/Vis Spectrophotometer07 Jan 2004 17:29 GMT1
There is a Beckman 35 UV/Vis spectrophotometer coming up at a local
auction. It appears to be in pretty good shape (was used at the local
university). There is no manual with it. The unit comes with both the
spectrophotometer portion, and a chart recorder that is interfaced and
