Methanol Testing??25 Feb 2004 01:28 GMT1
I have a large Methanol tank I need to monitor for water and the
presence of carbonyl compounds.
Right now, I send a sample of the methanol out once per quarter to be
tested for moisture content (Karl Fisher), and a carbonyl test.
Waters 700 Autosampler24 Feb 2004 03:22 GMT1
Greetings group members from a long time lurker.
Is anyone familar with the Waters 700 WISP autosampler system commonly
sold for HPLC systems and IC systems in the early 1990's. We have one
which has been reliable for many years but last week started to play
ICP21 Feb 2004 04:10 GMT1
I have been resurrecting an older Perkin Elmer ICP and have run into
some trouble.  The torch lit and burned steadily for a couple of
weeks; until the last time I tried fireing it.  The error "RF over
load" was shown and now it doesn't appear to try to light the torch,
KClO3 from boiiling NaClO20 Feb 2004 08:21 GMT1
Beginning with a solution of 14% NaClO, how long should I boil it
until all the NaClO has turned to NaClO3 and NaCl ?
Is there a reliable way to test if any NaClO is left in the
solution?
Nitrogen determination by combustion vs. Kjeldahl20 Feb 2004 03:07 GMT1
Hi, I am a science lab technology student currently writing a report
discussing the combustion-based nitrogen determination methods as
alternatives to the Kjeldahl method.  The research I have been able to
gather from the Internet is limited in explaining the actual merits of
Oligos by LC-MS20 Feb 2004 00:14 GMT1
I am working on detecting a 6-mer DNA oligo by LC-MS and have not had
success detecting it.  Does anyone have a method that they can
recomend? Thanks.
Barium Fluoride Crystals? Need ID.20 Feb 2004 00:13 GMT18
I have approximately 1,100 crystals (rectangular, 8mm X 20mm X 45mm) that I
believe are barium fluoride.  They were spares used with the detectors in a
vintage PET scanner.
Any suggestions where I might send a sample for a positive identification?
REQUEST/IN SEARCH OF Mass Spectral Libraries for HP ChemStation20 Feb 2004 00:01 GMT3
Greetings USENET,
I am interested in getting some mass spectral libraries.  If anyone
has the time - please upload them to this usenet.
Thanks in advance,

Spectra Physics SP8800, SP8875, Spectral 100 help, PC1000 ?16 Feb 2004 21:30 GMT1
I inherited a SP8800 ternary pump, SP8875 autosampler and spectral 100
UV detector.  The system also came with a PC that has TSP PC1000
software and a spectra physics (or maybe a TSP) Wizard card that
accepts two labnet cable plugs.  The PC runs OS2.  Unfortunatly there
anions containing metals16 Feb 2004 14:20 GMT2
Can somebody name or give the references to  the standard analytical
methods/techniques to determine the amount of anions containing
transition  metals, such as vanadate, molybdate and  chromate . The
question might be too general, and analytical methods for the
Chemstation15 Feb 2004 15:20 GMT7
Last month we obtained a 6890N w/FID&PFPD and LAN Chemstation Ver. 10.01.
Sitting a short way away is our 5890 II+.
I would like to hook it up to our new chemstation.
I realize that I would need an add-on module for the software, but what
Barium assay14 Feb 2004 14:13 GMT10
I was looking for quick QC test to assay Ba(OH)*8H2O for Ba content we can
do on site- the hydroxide might also contain some small quantities of
carbonate.
We have a gravimetric method in place - but our QC lab is over worked and I
IC DIONEX13 Feb 2004 18:10 GMT1
Has anyone got a manual for an ionchromatograph (DIONEX): DX 100.  At
the high school we have got an ionchromatograph of that type but no
one know how to use it. It would be a great help to me.

Highly concentrated dye13 Feb 2004 17:31 GMT1
As a kid in the sixties I read a chemistry experimenter's book with a
simple  process to home make something like rhodamine, capable of
dying a whole pool water red with a few drops. Cannot find it now...
Does anyone know how to make such a highly concentrated dye with
