| NIMH charge early termination | 29 Nov 2003 17:14 GMT | 5 |
2100Mah Cells, in a six-pack, being charged at C. Mfgr says to terminate high rate, at 40C. The pack runs up from 28C to 40C in 26 mins, with voltage slope still rising, indicating to me that it's nowhere near full charge....

Ok, NIMH charger question: What should happen, when the constant current source runs out of compliance? IOW: As the battery charges, it's voltage rises. If the input voltage to the constant current source isn't high enough, the constant current source

| How to measure the conductivity of organic thin films? | 27 Nov 2003 12:16 GMT | 1 |
How to maasure the conductivity (or resistance) of an organic thin film? Is it possible to use just potentiostat/galvanostat to measure the conductivity? (not by AC impedance method) Please give me some suggestions, thanks!

| Sealing NiMH Battery Pack? | 26 Nov 2003 23:38 GMT | 7 |
Can I permanently seal (make waterproof) a pack of NiMH batteries. The reason I am thinking I can't is because of off gassing of the cells. Should I be concerned about this or not. If it is a concern does anyone have any ideas about making a pack waterproof?

| Cold NiCd/NiMh batteries | 26 Nov 2003 08:13 GMT | 2 |
I have a 12V 60Ah, vented cell NiCd battery. I tested this at -40degrees with a 500A load and got 5min to a 9V end point. A theoretically perfect 60Ah battery would have given 600A for 6min so this is truly impressive performance.

Initial tests with the Ametek servo motor, 1950s technology, are done. Various gears can be fitted for a second stage collecting data to get motor/generator slopes. The new motor is here. 1990s technology, a Servo Disc with integrated tach.

After charging the six PC 2500 2700 F caps on my bike to around 12 VDC, I measured about 0.01 V / sec voltage decrease while operating two spiral fluorescent bulbs of 9W rating each through a Radio Shack 140W rated inverter, running off the caps.

| Optima Marine SC34M (float voltage) | 23 Nov 2003 14:01 GMT | 4 |
A friend bought this battery for his boat. I would assume that, as with most AGM batteries, that a charger set to 13.5~13.8vDC would be appropriate. A Google search on the battery seems to be limited to the Interstate Battery site

| NiCD or LiFeS2 for low temp? | 22 Nov 2003 16:48 GMT | 2 |
I'm debating on whether or not to use NiCD cells (provided with the radio that is using the cells) or substituting these cells with Lithium-Iron Disulfide cells (AA provided by Energizer) for a high altitude application where the enclosure temperature could easily drop

| SLA, brand matter? | 22 Nov 2003 08:24 GMT | 3 |
I have a nice UPS I got a great deal on because the unit won't hold up at all due to a worn battery. The original batteries are dated March 1996, so I'm sure it's about due for a new set of batteries.
