| Prolonging Li-Ion batteries | 05 May 2004 09:15 GMT | 5 |
I've heard contradicting stories about the best way to prolong the life of a Li-Ion laptop battery. I used to think that they didn't suffer from the memory effect (aka voltage depresson I think) but some people say they do.

| Recharging Non-Rechargeable 9-volt Batteries | 05 May 2004 03:32 GMT | 4 |
I've had quite some success recharging non-rechargeable 1.5-Volt batteries, but when I recharge 9-volt batteries, the bottom lid always pops out even though the batteries are dead cold and the cells inside are intact. Any reason? One time the lid even flew halfway across the room.

| microwave heating | 04 May 2004 20:49 GMT | 1 |
ok here is my question... i know that microwaves heat polar molecules by dipole polarization. so when you apply a microwave to a water molecule does it actually absorb enery at a rotational to level to keep aligning with the field? and do

| The Warburg Impedance 1899 | 04 May 2004 04:13 GMT | 1 |
I am in the process of reading Bockris's book electrochemistry 2A and I would like to acquire a copy of Warburg's paper from 1899 as ref. by Bockris (p. 1133). I would appreciate it if someone could scan it and send a copy to me via email. Or give me where it was published ...

| Recharging Car Batteries | 02 May 2004 23:32 GMT | 5 |
I have a curious question ... would recharging your Car's Lead-acid-battery overnight (using the wall outlet) help you save gas in the long run? If so, by how much?

What's the most number of volts in batteries you have ever connected in series? I connected about 1,000 volts in the lab once using 9-volt batteries. It's enough to start a fire.

| tungsten tips in an aqueous FET | 02 May 2004 15:06 GMT | 1 |
We want to perform conductivity measurements in a MOSFET device based on carbon nanotubes (CNT). A net of CNT bridges the source and drain electrodes, and a tiny aqueous sample drop is deposited between them, to be analysed.

| 6-volt Latern batteries | 02 May 2004 04:45 GMT | 4 |
Next time you go to the hardware store, if they have 6-volt Latern batteries for sale that don't have the seal on, short circuit them by setting two of them in that position. That way if the next person to buy them doesn't know about circuits and assumes they are good, they'll be ...

Say you're stranded in the middle of nowhere and your car's battery is dead. All you have in the car are a bunch of 9-volt batteries and some wires. Could you charge up your car battery using that? Just curious ...

On sci.chem.electrochem.battery in the thread Subject: Re: Gas Stations you posted an article which contained a few ctrl characters (to form probably an emoticon). You might not be aware of the havoc that some non-ASCII characters can cause in newsgroups, but in the tin newsreader
