Lead Acid Battery29 Nov 2004 18:48 GMT3
About 4 months ago I was charging a 12V Lead Acid battery when the charging
wire came loose and short circuited it. Within seconds, there was a lot of
smoke and the wires becamse so hot I couldn't disconnect it. A minute later the
wire finally burnt through and broke the short ...
Value of Cadmium from dead NiCad batteries29 Nov 2004 11:48 GMT3
I read somewhere that Cadmium was quite valuable, somewhat compareable to
Silver, so in the last four weeks I have been collecting NiCad batteries from
people's recycling bins. How much Cadmium does an AA battery really contain,
and how much is it worth?

Renewal Battery24 Nov 2004 18:33 GMT1
When I was 6 or 7 years old, we used some Renewal batteries. One time my mom
accidentally put an Energizer battery into the Renewal charger and it leaked.
Being just a 1st grader, I had no clue it had leaked and thought it was
something very bad. After that incident, I became very ...
15-minute NiMH charger24 Nov 2004 04:30 GMT1
Most are familiar with the Rayovac 15-minute NiMH "AA" charger which uses
special batteries that have charge-regulating circuitry inside. The
charger itself is very simple and little more than a current source.
Uneblievably (to me) Energizer has one-upped Rayovac by developing a

AC on two Copper electrodes23 Nov 2004 16:56 GMT5
I am working on explaining the net effect of an AC bias on two copper
electrode (low freq.)
Under an AC voltage, the mobile ions merely oscillate back and forth
resulting in no net flow.  However, the process may produce a REDOX reaction
Are apples good batteries ? ? ?22 Nov 2004 11:15 GMT1

So what is better now, apples or pears?

Rebuilding laptop battery with Ni-Cd cells19 Nov 2004 17:44 GMT5
I have an *old* laptop (Dell NL25C 386 @ 25MHz) which runs fine on the
mains but the battery is completely dead and the machine won't power up
when the battery is attached.
The battery pack information is:
InfoLITHIUM "S" series NP-FS11 3.6v  Battery. Please advice19 Nov 2004 11:07 GMT1
I'm using this battery for my Photo Digital Sony DSC-P1 CyberShot.

was reaching a level of 85.
To be sure to avoid any lack of energy during my holiday photo session, I

Recommendation on battery charger?13 Nov 2004 19:31 GMT3
I'm looking for a recommendation on a battery charger.
I'm not familiar with the brand names and I'm a bit
"electrically challenged" so I've found searching a bit
confusing.
Motorcycle charger with NiMH?13 Nov 2004 00:59 GMT1
I am interested in fast charging an NiMH 10-D-cell pack, each cell
with a capacity of 9500mAH.
I can find smart NiMH 2 amp chargers for 5-8 cells, but not 10.  That
means I would have to buy two chargers.
