The data sheets say not to charge below (for example) zero degrees C. Why? Is it a safety issue? I know why you can't charge nickel cadmium or NiMH at cold temperatures, but why lithium ion?

Could anyone confirm that at the interface electrodes of a DC biased electrochemical reaction there is acid at one and alkaline at the other. If this is two what would the case be with AC - salts?? Wayne

On the beach I found the rubber case for an unusual battery, probably from a ship or lighthouse. The case has embossed "air separator primary cell" (or similar), "2000 aH", and "danger - potassium hydroxide". Size 8x8x12". The top and contents are missing.

Have anyone else on this board have devices whose battery contacts were rusted, stained, or damaged by a battery explosion? It happens to me too much and I'd like some advice on how to avoid it.

All batteries are rechargeable. So "rechargeable" batteries are a scam. Therefore (putting these two statements together) all batteries are scams.
