How does my cordless phone battery charger works..?30 Jan 2005 14:25 GMT4
I just change my cordless phone(Vtech 9110) battery from NiCd(3.6v
400maH) to Nimh(3.6v, 700maH). I need to know how ther charge works to
figure out whether there is a possible risk of damaging my new
batteries. Hopefully, all cordless phone uses the same charging
Portable Potentiostat29 Jan 2005 19:23 GMT1
I am looking for a portable potentiostat that would interface with a
laptop that would do Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy.  Gamry is
offering an inclosure box which makes their potentiostat portable, but
this unit costs more than I would like to spend and offers more than I
Snake Oil or Increased Battery Life?27 Jan 2005 00:05 GMT3
Can there be any truth to this:

It is supposed to be some kind of foil that you attach to lithium
demonstration of galvanic cells26 Jan 2005 16:29 GMT2
I am intending to do a demonstration of simple batteries to a group of pre
schoolers, and am seeking some advice before I start.
I was hoping to make a Galvanic pile with different types of metal sheet,
and electrolyte separators, but not being a chemist, or having a science
Effects of frequency on Bi and Ni electrodepostion nano-wires?24 Jan 2005 22:59 GMT5
I have read a paper on Fabrication of highly ordered metallic nanowire
arrays by electrodeposition by Yin a Brown University, US.  See link for a
copy of the paper.

Feasibility of Lithium Ion Car battery/Valence24 Jan 2005 22:03 GMT3
Ever hear of Valence technology?  They say they have solved many of the
chargability and safety problems of lithium ion.  I'm not technically
sophisticated enough to know how true their claims are.  I don't know
how expensive their batteries are either.
Microwave dielectric constant of plexiglass24 Jan 2005 20:16 GMT1
Dear experts,
does anybody know about the complex dielectric constant of plexiglass
in the miocrowave range from 10 to 100 GHz? Or: where may I find
information on this?
Battery Polarity24 Jan 2005 02:18 GMT5
What does "battery polarity" mean? A warning "Please ensure that the
battery polarity setting is right before continue!" appear when I run
a battery analyzer machine to test a laptop lithium battery pack. How
do we know the correct number for polarity for each battery pack?
6D lantern and Rechargeable Batteries23 Jan 2005 20:08 GMT4
I have a 6D cell fluorescent lantern and I am wondering if it is safe to use
rechargable batteries in it, or will I have voltage problems?

OK Stable pure water will be difficult to maintain but what ionic level will be?23 Jan 2005 19:22 GMT8
Ok, from the last threads on pure water I have established that
1/ Water's max resistance is apx 18.3MR
2/ Pure water does not stay pure for long, thus it acts as a great solvent.
For my experiment I need a stable ion water solution to measure atmospheric
a substitute for chromic acid23 Jan 2005 05:20 GMT7
Could somebody recommend a substitute for a mixture of phosphoric and
chromic acids to etch aluminum oxide?
I would like to eliminate chromic acid.
NiMH batteries in Walkman23 Jan 2005 01:04 GMT4
My daughter uses her Sony D-F200 CD Walkman a lot.
So I just bought some Energizer  AA NiMH batteries and a charger for
them.
Now, I notice that the batteries are 1.2 V not 1.5 V.
Li-Ion leaving cell phone connected to AC charger23 Jan 2005 00:21 GMT1
Ok, my parents gave me a cellular phone this morning, will it cause any
problems to top off the charge every time I use it and is it safe to leave
it on there when the battery is fully charged?  My Cell Phone is a Samsung
SCH-a650.  Note this is the travel (adaptor style) charger ...
Diodes in NiCd pack - what are they?23 Jan 2005 00:11 GMT4
Panasonic 2.4v screwdriver battery pack consists of 2x sub-C cells in series.
Pack has (+) and (-) terminals, and a 3rd terminal (charge sense?).
This 3rd terminal connects the charge circuit to the pack's (-) terminal
through 2 diodes and 2 resistors, all in series. The diodes ...
Why no rechargable AAAA cells?22 Jan 2005 19:01 GMT7
Given the relative capacity of NiMH AA/AAA cells, AAA cells don't seem
to be very near the limit of size.
Are there AAAA cells, or are they just not available due to lack of demand?
