Cordless drill vs Toyota hybrid29 Oct 2005 20:07 GMT6
I don't use my cordless drill that often, but it ir real handy sometimes
since I live on a farm.  Unfortunately the batteries don't seem to last
very long, maybe 2 years or so; I think the recharger is cooking the
batteries and ruining them.  I would like to find a ...
High drain NiCd - Sub C batteries for power tools (strapping tool)28 Oct 2005 21:26 GMT27
Dears,
At the company I work for we use some powertools (in this special case
a strapping tool) that use 2.4Ah NiCd sub-c type cells. I could not
figure out if they are from Sanyo or some other manufacter.
Faradaic Impedance28 Oct 2005 05:30 GMT4
When simulating AC voltammograms (absolute admittance vs. DC potential)
one should account for a spherosymmetrical diffusion (in case of a
spherical electrode) by placing a resistance with a value
r0*(sigma)i*(2/Di)^.5 in parallel with the Warburg impedance of species
Smallest Li-ion/cylindrical li-poly?26 Oct 2005 15:09 GMT6
I'm looking for a small rechargable battery.
It should last several months without losing all its charge at 30C or so
ambient.
Staying charged is more important than ultimate capacity, though more capacity
Q's about duaol gel batteries25 Oct 2005 18:24 GMT8
Guys,
I currently have a gel optima red top in my truck and want to install a
gel optima yellow top as backup and accessory battery, which would
often be drained...
Welding batteries to links...25 Oct 2005 17:52 GMT1
Greetings...
I saw, on the internet, a device using capacitive discharge  where you can
discharge the capacitor and the resultant high current will fuse the metals
together..eg to the positive and negative ends of two batteries to put them
AA battery charging - another question25 Oct 2005 06:46 GMT2
From my previous question:
"I am a cyclist and I use a Trelock LED cycle light which uses 5 x AA
batteries. It has the ability to recharge the batteries using a mains
charger which plugs directly into the light and saves the batteries having
UPS Batteries...The Good, The Bad and The Ugly25 Oct 2005 03:36 GMT44
I just finished working on a number of UPSs.
One thing I noticed was that many of the Sealed Lead Acid (SLA)
batteries were swollen and hard to remove.
Why do SLA batteries swell?
fusing links to cells24 Oct 2005 22:21 GMT4
As most of you have already talked about, I have seen many batteries with
links, fusing, or welding, them together...
Does anyone know how this is done?...what current, etc, is used...

Lead Acid Battery Charger Recommendation22 Oct 2005 21:23 GMT13
I would be interested in hearing a recommendation for a charger for
lead acid batteries.
I am looking for a charger that gives an indication of charging status
(no idiot lights please), capability for flooded cells, sealed lead
Newbie AA battery charging calculation22 Oct 2005 18:21 GMT4
I am a cyclist and I use a Trelock LED cycle light which uses 5 x AA
batteries. It has the ability to recharge the batteries using a mains
charger which plugs directly into the light and saves the batteries having
to be removed to recharge. I am using 5 x 1300 NiMH AA batteries. The ...
battery tester22 Oct 2005 12:16 GMT1
I am a hobbyist that would like to build my own battery tester. I have a
data logger that will record the voltage over the test time, but I'm not
sure of the test load I should use. I don't want to discharge a battery to
fast as I'm not sure of the damage that might be done to it ...
connecting batteries21 Oct 2005 00:30 GMT13
Hi to all, first i'm sorry for my english and i hope that you don't mind
about grammatical errors.
My idea is this: i want to connect in series 20 vehicle standard Pb
batteries (12v , about 50 Ah) to make a sort of  "emergency battery" for a
Producing Iron powder via Electrolysis20 Oct 2005 13:40 GMT7
Just out of curiousity, is there a method of producing iron powder
using electrolysis?  I read (on I think sci.chem) about using a
saturated solution of some iron salt and water, and electrolysizing at
high current (120 amps/sq. meter?), would produce iron powder.  I
