NiCd / NiMH battery storage19 Oct 2005 20:58 GMT2
Should I store my NiCd and NiMH batteries charged or not?
thanks
Li ion periodic discharge19 Oct 2005 17:07 GMT3
I seem to recall somebody in this group saying that there was a benefit
to discharging Li ion batteries every month or so.
Is this so ?
Cheers, J/.
Removing nickel with Potassium Iodide + Iodine18 Oct 2005 21:13 GMT2
I am trying to remove gold and the nickel barrier from a printed
circuit board with Potassium Iodide + Iodine, to leave very clean
copper.
After which I intend to clean with HCl.
Battery Storage Containers/Battery Charging History Records18 Oct 2005 05:10 GMT1
I am finding that I have dozens and dozens of batteries (AAAA - D)
along with speciality batteries that are becoming disorganized as to
storage.
What do you use for battery storage?
Warburg impedance and platinized electrode17 Oct 2005 18:18 GMT3
Does someone know how to approximate the Warburg impedance in a case of
platinized electrode/electrolyte interface? Platinization increases the
effective area of the interface, but does not change (in principles)
the geometric area. Since the Wargburg impedance describes the ion

A soot particle of diameter Dp=10^-6 (m), density rho=500 (kg/m^3), and
positive charge q=25*Dp^2 (C) is attracted by a rubber surface of area
greater than 100 (m^2) (assume infinite area). The soot particle is
initially 0.15 (m) from the rubber surface.
Data Logging and Battery Chargers16 Oct 2005 02:34 GMT4
Has anyone actually hooked up a data logging device up to their battery
chargers and monitored what the charger is doing?
If so, what was your setup?

A new low cost cold fusion ?13 Oct 2005 21:16 GMT27
A new low cost cold fusion ?
Here's two web page about a low cost cold fusion, what do you think of it ?
Anybody can try their project and told all of us about the results ? (I can't
do it myself, no place to do it safely)
"Fragmented" Electrode10 Oct 2005 20:03 GMT3
I have a theoretical question:
Suppose I have two electrodes, one 1cm2 of polished metal surface, the
other one also 1cm2 of the same material, but arranged in 1um squares
1um apart from each other.
Shorting a lead-acid cell09 Oct 2005 12:21 GMT8
I often have a 12 volt car battery with a dead cell, but I have lots of
uses for a 10 volt car battery.  The problem is the dead cell in the
middle which screws up both charge and use.  Is there a chemical I can
drop into the cell to short it out so the cell has low resistance?
Using Laptop Without Battery08 Oct 2005 23:08 GMT10
I hardly ever use my laptop outside and I am wondering if I should keep the
battery in the computer since I am always connected to the AC. Endless
charging seems it will wear out the battery. I have a Toshiba Satellite with
Li-Ion battery. Everything works fine without the ...
Li ion laptop batteries -  why so many terminals ?05 Oct 2005 01:38 GMT2
Quite a few lithium ion batteries I've seen in laptops have a connector
array with two big terminals at the end and a bunch of smaller ones in
between.
Are these smaller terminals for the monitoring of individual cell
"D" cell charger recommendations ?05 Oct 2005 01:18 GMT8
While in Tokyo recently, I purchased some 7000 mAh GP brand "D" size cells.
I have a Energizer model CHM4FC charger which takes D-size ... but their
1-800 help desk has confirmed that their charger works on a "timer" and is
not recommended for such large capacity cells.
Battery Acid SG04 Oct 2005 22:35 GMT1
I have a set of 12 dry charged 2v 920Ah traction batteries to make a
24v battery.  The batteries were developed to flash deperm ships - so
were built to discharge at a high rate - 5000Amps.  The manufacturer
says use SG1280 acid.  Others have advised use SG1260 acid.  I can get
Para-Hydrogen versus Ortho-Hydrogen in Electrolysis04 Oct 2005 14:56 GMT5
Does anyone have any knowledge about the formation of either
para-hydrogen or ortho-hydrogen molecules during electrolysis? I'm
already aware of the relative proportions of para-hydrogen versus
ortho-hydrogen at various temperatures and pressures, but I have never
