New high-power battery announced:

Hmm, some of the performance features sound suspiciously like that
Toshiba battery we were all talking about a few months ago. But I see
Reviving Lazy Cells?24 Jan 2006 14:46 GMT11
I have four T105 golf cart batteries that are about two years old. Now two
of the batteries have a cell that never seems to make it into the green as
far as specific gravity is concerned. I have tried lengthy equalization
charges with no success. The batteries have not seemed to ...
car battery ... Voltage @ Temperature22 Jan 2006 23:56 GMT8
Can anyone point me at charts or math for determining the normal resting
voltages at various temperatures for a regular flooded cell 'Diehard type
lead acid car battery. ..   also for typical ups type SLA's would be nice
too.      Not charging voltages but actual resting fully ...
Does this process seem feasible?18 Jan 2006 13:44 GMT17
This following process is from a patent regarding electrode coatings
comprising a platinum group metal oxide and a "film forming metal"
oxide, e.g., RuO2-TiO2.
I'm wondering, does the this process seem like it would work as
Li-ion full discharge benefit18 Jan 2006 11:58 GMT2
I know, I know, li-ion don't have "memory" and shouldn't need periodic
full discharges, but here's my experience:
I recently bout a Canon 20D digital camera. It uses a 2 cell li-ion
battery.
More balancing of halfreactions.14 Jan 2006 21:48 GMT1
First ,thanks for helping me out. Unfortunately I still don't understand the
complete layout for getting to your answer when I put the first and the
second halfreaction together. I understood what you said about the 2nd
halfreaction.
Balancing of halfreactions.14 Jan 2006 13:13 GMT4
Have following equation:
S + 2e- > S2-
S + OH- > (SO3)2- + e- + H2O
The answer should be :
Building a "Robinson Crusoe" Battery13 Jan 2006 17:46 GMT45
Reading the thread on the Voltaic pile in sci.chem.electrochem.battery,
I started considering what would one have to do to build a "Robinson
Crusoe" battery to power equipment in an emergency.
Assuming a battery of 12v and respectable current to power
rechargeable not working for mp3 player06 Jan 2006 15:24 GMT14
I have an mp3 player which requires 2x AA batt for operation. I've
tried popping in 2x NiMH rechargeables inside the player but it will
not run. What is the explanation for this ?
Thanks
Best book on LA batteries?03 Jan 2006 22:37 GMT3
So far this is the best book on lead acid batteries I can find:
http://www.powerstream.com/1922/battery_1922_WITTE/batteryfiles/chapter05.htm
Only problem is that it is dated 1922 but then little has changed.
Is there any better PDF books online?
Homemade Tin Plating02 Jan 2006 20:04 GMT9
I  have a copper pot with a small blemish on the internal plating.
The plating is gone on a square inch of surface to the point that copper is
almost visible.
I was thinking of melting some lead-free solder, perhaps plating is a better
Building a Voltaic pile02 Jan 2006 19:18 GMT15
Sorry for the wide distribution, but I'm casting a wide net in the
hopes of a speedy solution.
My daughter is trying to build a simple Volta's pile for a school
project.  We took twelve shiny new US pennies, twelve circles of
