| Fish Finder batteries | 27 Mar 2006 02:50 GMT | 6 |
I have two older Humminbird fish finders that are set up as portables using a home-brewed case. They are used intensely during a weeklong family fishing trip in August, but sit idle much of the rest of the time. They can run on anything from 10-16 volts.

| Paralleling cells? | 26 Mar 2006 22:39 GMT | 13 |
I intend to string seven 1.2v NiMh cells in series to obtain 8.4v, then parallel two of these battery packs. Is there in inherent problem in the idea of paralleling NiMH or NiCd cells to increase mAh capacity? I would think that if you were careful about charging each cell ...

| Resetting Safety Switch in Cylindrical LiION cells? | 24 Mar 2006 03:58 GMT | 1 |
I bought a used Lithium computer battery. All four of the series-connected 18650 cells are open circuit. There's no sign of overheating or venting. I'd like to try to patch it up.

| Good to leave Li-ion battery charging in laptops? | 23 Mar 2006 05:58 GMT | 6 |
I use my laptop primarily with AC adapter in my office. To maintain maximal battery life. Is it better to leave the battery in the laptop for constant charging or is it better to take it out of the laptop when not using it for a long time?

| What would cause a NiMH to go flat in a week? | 21 Mar 2006 23:12 GMT | 4 |
I have an old Energizer brand AA NiMH (made by someone else I'm sure), AccuRechargeable 1,200mAh Made in Mexico. When charged fully charged and discharged at 250mAh to 0.9v after a day, the battery has almost the full capacity, but if I let it sit a week, it

| Tutorial or discussion group? | 21 Mar 2006 17:56 GMT | 2 |
Does anybody know of an on-line tutorial or a discussion group about battery chemistry and performance? Scientific, not "which battery should I use in my iPod", rather, what semi-permeable membranes are made of, does Titanium work as an anode, why don't we see Lithium - Air

| cheap li-ion batteries and chargers | 20 Mar 2006 13:46 GMT | 4 |
Hi guys, I hope you don't mind a naive question in what seems a technical group, but I'd like to know how companies are making 'compatible' batteries and chargers for like 10% of rrp. In particular, I'm looking at Canon's CR-560 charger for BP-511 1400mAh

| nicad and ordinary battery | 20 Mar 2006 03:46 GMT | 8 |
I have opened an ordinary battery to get the carbon rod and the black powdery stuff around it stained my drawer. I had some nicads in there and I was wondering if the nicads would be affected? Some of the nicad batteries did have some white stuff on the positive

| The definition of "charge efficiency" | 19 Mar 2006 06:13 GMT | 1 |
When they say charge efficiency is xx %, what are they referring to? I do not know if they're referring to Ah discharge/Ah charge or Wh discharge/Wh charge. I would imagine a battery with 100% charge efficinecy would have a

| Charging NiMH with a NiCd device? | 17 Mar 2006 04:31 GMT | 24 |
we have a baby monitor that uses 1000 mAh NiCd batteries. The batteries are charged by the device itself. The batteries are in a poor condition, and don't work as they should anymore. Is is safe to replace the batteries with e.g. 2500 mAh NiMH batteries?
