Fluoride measurement: ISE vs. IC26 Jul 2006 05:01 GMT4
I am trying to measure low-level of fluoride (hopefully below 0.01 ppm)
in a defined bacterial medium with about 400 ppm of chloride and 1000
ppm of phosphates. I would like to get some opinions about which method
is better. So far I didn't have success with either of the method.

Cathodic reaction hydrogen evolution on RDE23 Jul 2006 11:02 GMT1
Can you tell me if changes in electrode rotation rate have any
influence on cathodic reaction - evolution of hydrogen? Is it possible
that with increasing the rotation rate of disc electrode cathodic
current density become higher? The working electrode is Al disc
Help with NiMH rechargables19 Jul 2006 01:27 GMT3
I just bought some 3500mAh NiMh rechargables and a 120mAh charger. The
battery pack says normal charge time: 16 hours with a 350 mA charge, and
2.5 hours with a 1750 mA charge. Neither of these add up to 3500 mAh.
How long do I charge the batteries with my 120 mAh charger? I know ...
Cleaning zinc battery plates17 Jul 2006 20:58 GMT15
A science museum is using zinc plates to show students how to make simple
wet-cell batteries.  The commercial zinc they are using is corroded and
needs to be cleaned before it can be used.  Any suggestions for chemicals
to remove the corrosion?  (Their current method is steel ...
Zinc plating of Cu11 Jul 2006 19:14 GMT3
There is a recipe for plating Cu with Zn. You dissolve some
ZZZZZn metal in hot KOH or NaOH, leaving some undissolved.
Then touch the Zn metal with the Cu, and Zn will deposit on it.
Does anybody here know what the reaction is? Clearly, the

Europositron makes some very intriguing claims for a new aluminum battery,
but I have not been able to find any scientific information.   Is there some
information available on the SCIENCE of this battery?

Is there way to refresh old battery?01 Jul 2006 22:17 GMT1
Li-Ion or NiCd, of course just temporarily-I heard the trick with
regular non-rechargable ones is to heat them up for a few minutes..
