Leaking NiCd batteries31 Oct 2006 17:42 GMT5
Dears,
I bought around 30-40 sub-c NiCd batteries (2000mAh) 1 year ago.
Yesterday I mounted a 9.6V pack with them and charged them at 1C (this
are high power batteries that should be able to be charged at 3-5C),
MAHA NiMH D Cells30 Oct 2006 16:02 GMT9
I had a pack of 10 of these to provide 12 VDC for my telescope system,
which I'm ashamed to admit was very infrequently used. I maintained
with trickle of about C/400. About 2 years ago I had an accidental
short and the cells "melted" right out of the holders! I then switched
Capacity (series vs Parallel)29 Oct 2006 15:30 GMT2
I understand the basic relationship with regards to adding cells in
parallel yields higher capacity and series yields higher voltage.
However, I'd like to understand this when applied to a switching power
supply. So, 6 x F cell NiCads yield approximately 7.2V and 7000mAh.
Only exist 12 V batteries?25 Oct 2006 00:36 GMT11
Only Sealed Lead Acid Maintenance Free Batteries of 12V exist ?, that
another battery I can use to feed three-phase UPS, high power? .
Somebody can help me with commentaries or URL, thanks

High Energy Battery15 Oct 2006 00:15 GMT2
I would like someone in this group to suggest a battery which would
work for the project that I am conducting.  I need a cell that is
between 10 and 24 volts.  It must easily provide ~60 watts of energy
for about 3-4 hours.  It would be preferable that it's weight be as
Effect of Electrode Area13 Oct 2006 12:52 GMT5
The peak current increases linearly with the electrode area for
planar electrodes, or with square of the electrode radius for planar disk
electrodes. But it increases linearly with square root of the electrode area
or with the electrode radius for microelectrodes, regardless of ...
Recharger for Large Quantity of Batteries13 Oct 2006 12:45 GMT1
We have a potential client that is using several digital cameras on a
daily basis.  Does anyone know of a recharger for AAs with a large
number of spots for batteries or am I stuck plugging in a whole bunch
of the 4-at-a-time models?

Are there any web sites where one can find international job offers in
electrochemistry area?

FAQ on deep dischare lead acid batteries only11 Oct 2006 02:44 GMT3
Does anyone have a url on good information of deep dischare lead acid
batteries only?
I am finding it very difficult to determine the information that is
applicable to deep discharge bateries. Most of the FAQ/notes mix

English translation of ELV "RIM 1000" battery tester user manual wanted
There were posts in this group about the RIM 1000 conductance battery
tester by ELV. I've got one, but the instructions are in German and
there is a BIG WARNING about polarity. So, before I start using this
Lithium Ion Laptop Batteries...08 Oct 2006 13:56 GMT6
With the recent recalls from both Dell and Apple of some Sony lithium
ion laptop batteries due to overheating and even combustion, I was
wondering if the cause was heat from other components (i.e. CPU and
disk), internal battery breakdown, or both?
