Anybody know if the Tsunami Warning Centers are geared up to detect a impact generated Tsunami? That is would their instrumentation be able to discriminate a small asteroid or large meteor impact into the ocean? Would they send out a warning if they can?

I know that the mainshock was a 9.0, but were there supposed to be this many huge aftershocks? I mean the 8.1 MacQuerie quake had about five or six, but there must have been as many fives and sixes in the the Andeman/Nicabar/Sumatra area than there were i the previous couple of ...

The first pictures near the hypocenter didnt come out until near the end of the week. They showed near total destruction like the carpet bommbing or atomic bombs of WWII. But then thinking of it, a hydrogen bomb has the energy of M6 quake.
