Some of the people I work with have recently published a paper about
their Terashake [pun intended, I'm sure] simulation work.  An extensive
press report can be found at

Did TVA impoundments increase seismic frequency in the Southeast?23 May 2006 15:55 GMT8
I live by one of these impoundments in Alabama; it is one of the bigger

Two New EQ Predictions20 May 2006 22:22 GMT12
I got to thinking how selfish I've been in not sharing
my earthquake predictions with you and since I've
issued two of late I thought you might enjoy something
with a little flare.   Both are using entirely different

I'm surprised no one mentioned it, but today was the

Hi All.  Petra had her operation.  The doctors survived Petra and Petra
survived the doctors.  Not sure how the nurses are holding up though.
The doctor that did the operation said he removed a tumor the size of
an apple, but didn't say what kind of apple.  From the opening he

Gotta Love Presurgery Malpractice12 May 2006 03:30 GMT9
Despite my growing confidence that all would be well when I went to the
hospital, the presurgery check in didn't go quite so well.   The
doctors instructions for surgery were wrong.  That was not a confidence
builder at all.  Then the Surgical Nurse started giving me some of her

Sex & Geology10 May 2006 17:43 GMT7
I woke up this morning to a beautiful sunny day and that old urge to
get out and touch and see geology was buzzing in my head.  Before I

America's volcanoes images10 May 2006 00:25 GMT3
I've taken some raw pics from the US Geological Survey files,
processed them and put them in a small gallery. A couple of the
resulting images turned out pretty sweet, Mount Shasta in particular.
As a common prelude to a volcano erupting is an earthquake swarm you
Tonga quake "hit" on EQDB09 May 2006 13:17 GMT6
Just wanted to mention that this Tonga quake is a clear hit
for my Earthquake Dart Board. Yesterdays map (06-05-02) has
a circle almost centered on Tonga.
The map is still up on the main page as I write this, but in
