fdtd in one dimension16 Jul 2004 22:57 GMT3
I am currently teaching myself about finite difference time domain
(fdtd) methods for solving maxwell equations.  Whenever I start on
something like this I try and strip the problem down to the simplest
possible case so I can get my head around it and then I add layers of
Mass-velocity relationship.15 Jul 2004 09:19 GMT17
It was shown in the article 13 that currents do not exert force
directly on each other. Magnetic force is due to the interaction of
the magnetic fields, which are real physical entities. In the article
23, it was shown that the magnetic energy, We, retained by the
Creating A Conducting Channel In The Atmosphere13 Jul 2004 19:34 GMT9
I'm wondering if it might be possible to create a short (maybe a few meters
long) conducting channel in air using a rail gun like scheme, where, rather
than accelerate a solid projectile, the plasma itself is projected from the
device. Does this idea seem feasible?
EMF Readings13 Jul 2004 15:03 GMT4
Question on EMF readings.   Would an 11milliGauss field from say a
laptop/computer monitor have the same effects as an 11milliGuass field
from say 600,000kV transmission lines, when exposed to for the same
amount of time?
nuclear propulsion08 Jul 2004 21:01 GMT5
have you considered coupling the nuclear thrusters with the
application of a strong magnetic field? i suggest that this would
produce not merely an impulse retardation but an impulse cessation.
further, computer controlled vectors should enable a comfortable
Aether08 Jul 2004 04:36 GMT1
Aether as I percieve it. (handwaving, not mathmatical)
In my opinion all the aether has in it is a general assortment of electrical
charges. There are the newly orchastrated dynamic electrical fields that are
avalanch propagated, and there are the residuals of decayed dynamic
Forces in a (moving) coil core07 Jul 2004 16:30 GMT5
I am building a durometer, based in throwing a known weight from a known
height over the sample. The weight is made of brass and pass through a coil
that is part of a LC oscillator, allowing me to know the position as a time
function.
Dielectric constant and pH.07 Jul 2004 08:26 GMT2
Does anybody know how the dielectric constant of water dependes on pH-value.
Thank you.
Bring Back the HP 15C Scientific Calculator06 Jul 2004 20:45 GMT4
There is an effort underway to get Hewlett Packard to start making the
15C, or a similar model again.  A web site with a petition has been
setup.  If you are like the others who have already given their support,
and would love to have a well made calculator like the 15C available ...
Magnetism, relativity & light05 Jul 2004 23:16 GMT20
I'm taking an E&M class in college next year, and I'm a little
nervous about it, since everyone's told me this is the class that
weeds the weaklings out of the physics program.  (yikes!)  So, I've
been reading through my dad's old physics book trying to get a handle
Spin-Photonics?05 Jul 2004 17:52 GMT1
Here is an interesting article:
http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2004-07/nsf-ant062904.php
While spintronics seems to be attracting interest in adding to the
functionality of elecronics, could Spin-photonics be far behind?
Magnetic radiation and relativity05 Jul 2004 15:00 GMT17
It was proved that magnetic field is an real entity. It is generated
during acceleration of a charge and retained during its steady motion.
During acceleration, part proportional to its instantaneous velocity
is de-linked, which then travels away with velocity of light.
would u please help me clear this doubt (thought experiment)04 Jul 2004 22:09 GMT12
would u please clear this doubt experiment for me.  i have only
followed through the laws of physics for tho observers (who are at
rest with each other) but get different answers for the same
phenomenon.(it only demands a basic knowledge between charges in
Question on magnet in a solenoid (wire coil)04 Jul 2004 19:31 GMT1
I put a permanent magnet inside a solenoid and plugged it into a
battery.  The magnet was near the edge of the solenoid.  With one
polarity, the magnet would shoot out of the solenoid.  I assume this
is because the direction of the field lines coming out of the magnet
