Charging a gas?11 Feb 2005 13:16 GMT12
Could anyone tell whether it is possible to apply a charge to a gas?
The idea being that if charge could be applied to a gas, then you
could in theory use a magnetic field to affect the gas movement.

mesh choice for fdtd calculations11 Feb 2005 03:21 GMT2
A while ago I posted a message in this newsgroup discussing a very
simple 1d implementation of a finite difference time domain (fdtd)
code that I am playing with.  Earlier today I was talking to a friend
of mine about it and was telling her about the "leap frog" Yee-cell
Source for Helmholtz Coils09 Feb 2005 16:26 GMT14
I'm looking for a tri-axial, 1 meter Helmholtz Coil to calibrate a set
of magnetoresistive sensors. I have come this far:

but have run into potential problems with price and lead time.

It is unfortunate but true that far too many "assumptions"
Electrostatic forces and principle of virtual work05 Feb 2005 03:58 GMT1
When calculating forces on capacitors (parallel plate) when can assume
constant charge on the plates or constant potential at the plates.
Constant charge (isolated system)
Using the principle of virtual work.

Water hitting a beach, photons exchanged?03 Feb 2005 19:58 GMT6
Let's say you are watching a sandy beach washed by the surf. You notice
the water carves grooves in sand.
Why?

GUY MACON - NOT A COLLEGE GRAD (guymacon, pseudo-engineer)03 Feb 2005 12:00 GMT3
GUY MACON (guymacon) -
GUY MACON NEVER ATTENDED COLLEGE and he has NO COLLEGE DEGREE. That is
so sad for a person who fancies himself as an electrical engineer. He
even admits on his online resume that he will accept a lower salary
