| NS and AaD curves | 10 Oct 2005 16:37 GMT | 27 |
In my sincere efforts to "get it" as to how NS (natural selection) and SoF (Survival of the Fittest) work, I look at something like the AaD (age-at-death) distribution curve of time of The Spanish Lady (the influenza pandemic of 1918-1919)... and something just doesn't compute ...

| A briefly summarizing sample of Science's ever increasing support for the concEPT of actention modules (of any a.s) | 09 Oct 2005 23:41 GMT | 1 |
Yes, science continues to reinforce the validity of the concEPT of actention modules. And, BTW, the same can be said for any concEPT, and for anyone's EPT or EPT-aligned view/grasp of What Is going on.

There is an interesting article in PLoS Biology Dec 2004. At least the title is interesting, and, I hope, correct: Mathematics Is Biology's Next Microscope, Only Better; Biology Is Mathematics' Next Physics, Only Better

| Mindboggling Mangrove Mystery... | 07 Oct 2005 18:59 GMT | 6 |
[moderator's note: There may seem to be an appeal to some sort of "Design" argument here, but I really don't think so; I urge people to read this fair-mindedly and by all means, let's leave Design (but not design) out of it. - JAH]

| How do cells know if they're a skin cell, blood cell, etc... | 07 Oct 2005 18:59 GMT | 53 |
I have a question. I know cells have all of the information of your genetic makeup stored in the DNA, but how does a cell know what to form? The cell always turns into whatever it needs to be, but what makes some cells function differently then others?

| Species evolve, but what do the rest of us do? | 07 Oct 2005 00:36 GMT | 4 |
Evolution is only part of the puzzle of life here on Earth. Consider any particular biota (animal + plants; predators + prey; any living thing + its environment) what is IT doing? I've been puzzling over this question, which may not seem obvious at first

| Understanding MinEP and MaxEP | 05 Oct 2005 02:18 GMT | 62 |
In this posting, I offer an electrical circuits analogy that may help to explain (my current understanding of) the relationship between Prigogine's theorem of minimum entropy production (MinEP) and Paltrige's hypothesis of maximum entropy production (MaxEP). This posting deals
