Clear quartz29 May 2004 21:42 GMT1
I picked up some clumps of unidentified rock at a gift shop last week
in Nova Scotia.  Cracking it open, I found several of what I think are
quartz crystals(typical quartz formation).  They are clearer than any

Sapphire?29 May 2004 20:03 GMT2
I bought a half pound of 'unsorted' sapphire for fun on ebay last
week.  In the handful of rocks, I found one rock that contained chunks
of clear sapphire.  The rest contains only chunks of solid mineral.
My understanding is that sapphire is translucent/transparent.  Is

Astronomical /terrestial connections do not presently mesh28 May 2004 12:08 GMT13
It is simply remarkable that crustal movement is discussed as though
the Earth were a stationary sphere in space  and as having no
connection to its astronomical roots in terms of formation and
subsequently the continuing effect on crustal movement.

"Geologists have added a new period to their official calendar of Earth's
history - the first in 120 years. "
