USGS Stream Gaging System12 Dec 2004 06:03 GMT1
They have just completed an install of one of these about 150 meters
from my home within the past month or so. The folks took off just before
I got a chance to speak with them.
Anyway, I was wondering why they have installed one of these in an area
global warming predictions12 Dec 2004 02:58 GMT6
Summary:
Consequences of global warming are far more serious than previously
imagined. These consequences relate to the newly discovered properties
of the "inner core" of our planet.

Kook warning, Oriel3610 Dec 2004 14:57 GMT154
Gery Merman was behearted enough to point out Jonathan alias "Peter J. Ross" .. an awardwinning
kook.
I shall return the favour.

Can you drill for volcanos?09 Dec 2004 10:37 GMT19
All the diagrams I've seen seem to show a line or pipe coming up to the
surface from miles below the earth, maybe hundreds of miles.
Are these magma pipelines just a simple way of depicted magna flowing up
through cracks or fissures, or are they really vertical pipes?  If the
Question about an alternate abiotic origin of Martian "blueberries"09 Dec 2004 10:00 GMT17
Sorry about the title, I didn't want to be ignored as a crackpot
before someone read my post.  Afterwards, you can call me insane! :-)
At any rate, I've been checking the Opportunity site daily looking
at the raws, and something struck me about the "blueberries" in so

Originally the discussions on Meridiani centered
around water or not,  habitable or not.
The safe position to take then was not habitable
due to lack of evidence. The speculative position

M15+ quakes during P/T rift?  Naaaa...08 Dec 2004 04:00 GMT12
Or maybe? What's this scuttlebutt about multiple M15+ earthquakes
during the rift that ended up extincting 90% of lifeforms during the
Permian/Triassic divide?
Since retiring from a career in geology, I've grown out of touch.
Grand Canyon08 Dec 2004 01:00 GMT39
Over Christmas, assuming we have no major life crises, I'm supposed to
hike the Bright Angel trail to the bottom. This is a 5 day trip. I've
got the book Hiking the Grand Canyon's Geology by Abbott and Cook--(no,
I'm not taking it, just copying the relevant pages).

geology field camp is required.  I have been interested in the wide range of
geology present in iceland and was wondering if anyone knows of a list of
field camps which may include this region.
