Can anyone explain the weathering process that results in the creation
of "solution cups", which tend to be small (10cm - 40cm) depressions,
which look very much like mortar cups.  Here in the Sierra Nevada such

I am in a discussion about the Grand Canyon.  The other person is
stating that the Grand canyonw as formed by a glacier and not by
