You know how when you lob a pebble into a pond,  it goes "splash!",

1. Where the mass comes from in this discussion is not an issue.
That's about *theory*. What *IS* at issue is the intial observation(s)
and the blurring here between the fact (observation) and

..or does the mantle force the crust up  (and give us mountains)

A serious question for you both as there seems to few other folks that have
the understanding you both have.
I am very intrigued by this information that I came across some years ago.
