How do you apply a 50 year moving Gaussian Filter to an ice core d18O     record?27 May 2008 18:38 GMT1
Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong group in which to raise this
question. I'm attempting to compile a number of proxy records for a
specific climatic event using ice core data and I need to apply a 50
year moving Gaussian Filter to reduce the noise. Can anyone shed some
Origin of the Moon .. pro/con Collision Theory arguments invited27 May 2008 16:20 GMT28
Like Brad Guth, I don't favor the Collision Theory much either since

arguments can be picked apart, super.

What would happen if the earth stopped spinning?23 May 2008 07:06 GMT55
The 1st and obvious answer is that half the world would be night and the
other half would be day without change.
However, what would be the less apparent effects? For example, how would

Can Chaiten eruption affect Puerto Aysen's "proto-volcano"?21 May 2008 09:01 GMT9
Just wondering. A little over a year ago there was that 6.2 earthquake
in Puerto Aysen that caused a landslide and resultant deadly tsunami
in the harbor, and there had been ongoing swarms of earthquakes for a
while before that and afterwards that were said to be due to an
Are ID proponents being silenced?19 May 2008 18:05 GMT5
On Wednesday, my colleague Maggie and I went to an advance screening of Ben
Stein's upcoming documentary, Expelled: No intelligence allowed. It purports
to be about threats to academic freedom, but it seemed more like a
pro-religion, pro-intelligent design propaganda film that ...

Manmade earthquakes19 May 2008 11:35 GMT38
Its quite possible that any earthquakes that occur could be man-made.
There are even stories of Tesla creating an earthquake during one of his
experiments 100 years ago.
People need to be aware of the possibility of a whole raft of secret weapons
NASA BRINGING CALAMITY TO MANKIND19 May 2008 01:56 GMT1
NASA is bringing calamity to mankind by breaking the skulls of
deceased Martians, as ghostly Martians (different from deceased
Martians) are now counter-attacking earth with something really big.
Believe it or not, ghostly Martians have no physical bodies, but they
