I'm in the process of writing a novel.  The plot includes the discovery of a
stone that's as hard as a diamond but it much more brillant -- as if it has
a light source of its own.  This is, of course, fiction.  Could anyone
respond to the following?

OK a few days ago I caved in and decided to try the oxalic solution, and i used
the instructions laid out by John Betts (thank you whoever posted that link).
Everything i treated on the first run were just disposable test pieces.
