I recently came upon a 15"(?) Phillips TUV shortwave UV lamp at a flea
market.  I'd like to use this to test mineral specimen's under UV, but not
sure if it is working (it does light and I do smell what smells like ozone).

When I was a kid back in the '60s here in upstate New York, we were playing
in a sandy ravine that had been formed by erosion. I found a piece of rose
quartz that was somewhat roundish oval in shape, maybe 2" by 1-1/2". The
