| Mounting diatoms for SEM | 03 Sep 2004 13:29 GMT | 4 |
I have these great diatom specimens from this group. What I would like to figure out is how to mount them so that they are well presented. My normal method is to put them on carbon sticky tabs. This works OK but is not great, since the specimens can get submerged

| Sodium-doping into optical glass | 03 Sep 2004 12:39 GMT | 2 |
My question to all is: How would you accomplish doping fused silica with a metal like Sodium? Also, how would you dope any kind of material into fused silica. This sounds more like a chemistry question, but I figure that there

| sustaining combustion in helium | 03 Sep 2004 03:36 GMT | 4 |
Can any body direct me to a research paper where they have been able to sustain a fire with a predominate helium atmosphere. We are interested in using chemical reactions to initiate stimulated emission.

| Metal-Semiconductor-Metal HgCdTe Queries MWIR ,LWIR | 02 Sep 2004 16:33 GMT | 1 |
My present work deals with a study on the Metal-Semiconductor-Metal Photodetectors and i am interested to know if there has been any work done to make such a device at SWIR(1-3um), MWIR (3-6) and LWIR (6-15). Till now my search has only given me devices at Near Infra red or

| high refractive index coating on glass | 02 Sep 2004 15:33 GMT | 4 |
Does anyone know of a transparent coating on glass that has a high refraction index of light going into the glass? I am using IR 550 to 950 nm light emmitted from a laser pen or commercial IR emitter, and want the IR to refract and hence reflect into the glass as much as possible. I ...

| Simple cavity design software | 02 Sep 2004 13:15 GMT | 8 |
I'm looking for software to do the following: I work on ion lasers day in and day out, and I'm tired of playing musical mirrors. Align, measure, align, measure, align, measure, its taking too much time. I need a simple piece of code that when I put

| Plasmon singularity in electromagnetic simulations | 02 Sep 2004 04:38 GMT | 2 |
In a past life, I had been heavily involved in rigorous electromagnetic simulations of grating diffraction. One thing I tried to avoid in evaluating biperiodic gratings was the situation where the diffraction order propagates parallel to the grating surface (i.e,

| Helium Soak for CO2 Lasers? Did all old Synrad's use metal tubes? | 01 Sep 2004 21:20 GMT | 5 |
Has anyone had any luck rejuvinating a CO2 tube with a helium soak? The Synrad laser on my dad's Kern table seems to have seen better days... Hmm, just noticed Synrad's using all metals tubes now. I wonder if they did 8 years ago.
