Mirror making31 Oct 2004 22:38 GMT1
Is there a good book on the processes and techniques of coating mirrors?
Thanks,
Bob

Home made galvos/complete show (check it out)30 Oct 2004 22:27 GMT3
A local laserist friend (Chris Favreau) sent me this link.
I saw it, and had to share with the group.
Homemade galvos, controller, everything... doing 18kpps @ 8 degrees,
12kpps @ 20 degrees. Looks nice!
alignment for free space laser comm.30 Oct 2004 22:08 GMT5
Have you experienced difficulty in aligning the laser beam for free
space communication? I am building a system for 1Gbps. The laser diode
is Lasermate VCT-F85A41, which can be found at
http://www.lasermate.com/vctfa4x.htm.
LCD Projector30 Oct 2004 19:19 GMT4
In the latest issue of Wired Magazine Hitachi has a cutaway view
of the optics of a liquid crystal projector.  Everybody take a look,
it's cool.
This is interesting to me because I designed the first LCD projectors
Modifying RED laser pens?30 Oct 2004 15:14 GMT3
Is it possible to modify the red laser in laser pens to be brighter?
I've read about doing this for green, but can it be done for red too?
Thanks,
Tom

Scratch-dig to MIL-O-13830A or MIL-PRF-13830B30 Oct 2004 00:42 GMT10
I have a question regarding the MIL spec that has become the industry
standard for specifying scratch-dig.
I realise that the scratch number doesn't actually define the width of
scratches (like many people beleive) but references the samples used
Looking for projection lens with backfocal length ~65-70mm29 Oct 2004 20:56 GMT1
Diameter of lightcone is min 45mm and angle is ~12deg from centeraxis.
All other parameters are very flexible atm.
Can anyone please help me find a source?

Q-switched YAG for pumping dye laser?29 Oct 2004 15:52 GMT5
Does anyone have experience using a Q-switched doubled YAG as a pump
source for a dye laser?  We are considering a laserscope as a pump
source for a Spectra Physics 375B with styryl-8 dye.  Any reason this
can't work?  I know mode-locked pump sources are common, and Q-switched
laser diode lifetime vs storage temperature29 Oct 2004 08:57 GMT1
Can anyone point me to any studies of operational lifetime as a function
of storage (or operating) temperature for 808nm quasi-CW laser diodes. I
appreciate that this will probably depend on the details of device
composition and fabrication, but I'm trying to get a feel for the
Lissajous figure generator and simple galvos via soundcard29 Oct 2004 07:34 GMT1
There's a link for the program in the instructions for a simple laser
projector.  Beginners may find it useful.

Please help me figure out which lens to get.28 Oct 2004 23:50 GMT4
I have a Pentax digital camera with 3 times optical zoom. It's not
enough. I would like to double this at maximum zoom. The cameral lens
makers I've contacted don't make the lens I want and won't tell me how
to pick out a lens which can have the mount modified to fit the
