Laser Photonics Project02 Oct 2004 14:34 GMT5
I'm a third year undergraduate student studying Photonics Engineering.
We currently have a project to design an optical system that will measure
the thickness of paper.
Can anyone offer some suggestions or ideas?
Need large beam splitting (half-silvered) mirror. Source?02 Oct 2004 11:12 GMT3
Im looking to make a teleprompter for video use. Therefore, I need a
half-silvered (or 60-40 pass) beam splitting mirror. However, it must
be large, on the scale of 12" square, or somewhere around that size.
Does anyone know where I could find one, and about how much it would
What is the difference between MCT (A) and (B) detectors?02 Oct 2004 07:38 GMT3
does anybody know what the difference is between MCT (A) and (B) detectors.
Thank you very much
HeNe mixture01 Oct 2004 22:06 GMT1
Some day ago, somebody asked for gas mixtures of HeNe laser...i've found on
this page information about 10:1

Hope it will be helpfull
projectors / low voltage lamps01 Oct 2004 20:42 GMT1
Dear colleagues,
a short question about slide projectors: why do I always find low voltage
bulbs (24VDC) inside slide projectors?
Why not use a 120V bulb and save the transformer?

532nm, >5mW pointers - best source?01 Oct 2004 19:06 GMT4
Hi all. Been lurking a while.
Have a question regarding 532nm, "modified" >5mW DPSS pointers, and
who's the best source of them.
Note: yes, I am aware of the legal issues. Yes, I am aware that many

Does someone know if a fiber optical ciculator exists at 532 nm ? At least
in
the visible range ?
Thank.
Groan: Lasers blamed for pilot's vision problems...01 Oct 2004 13:54 GMT7
Have you seen this?

Sounds pretty iffy.  Some ex-Navy pilot is claiming that his vision
was damaged by a laser while he was on a recon mission.  Of course,
etching on glass and crystal01 Oct 2004 12:00 GMT2
Does anybody have any suggestions on surface etching on glass and
crystal using a co2 laser? All of my attempts so far have produced a
lot of chipping. I've tried using lowest power possible, burning
through masking to dissipate heat and freezing before etching.
Lexel 85 questions01 Oct 2004 06:56 GMT2
I bought a pair of surplus Lexel 85 laser systems (head & power supply)
today but don't really have a clue about them.  I do know that these units
are not working but don't know why.  The tubes are in tact and everything is
in good physical condition.  I am familiar with the ...
Undersampled vs. oversampled thermal imagers01 Oct 2004 05:53 GMT8
I'm wondering how to compare the spatial resolution of the old
scanning cameras--after A/D sampling--to the newer focal plane arrays.
Would a horizontal line sampled and stored as 320 digital pixels be
equivalent to a 320 x (whatever) array?
