DPSS and some smoke :)  now what....15 Nov 2004 13:22 GMT3
I was stupid, connected 24 volts to a DPSS power supply that normally runs
on just 5 volts. The was laser working just fine, and I was alerted to "the
problem" by the smell of burning electronics.
Situation now is, that the laser works but it needs a minimum of 7 volts,
Coherent DPSS 315M: Mode hoping15 Nov 2004 09:24 GMT6
I have a used 315M 100mW.
The laser head is mounted on a heatsink.
Initially, the laser worked fine, but now it is constantly mode

Make Any Lens Using Only The Cheapest Crown and Flint Glasses!14 Nov 2004 10:45 GMT1
The "secret" I am about to reveal is, I believe, known to all
professional optical designers.
I am not talking about the idea used by Paul Rudolph in designing the
Planar lens (patent 583,336), where he used a crown glass and a flint
need 2020 power supply help14 Nov 2004 04:14 GMT1
My 2020 laser power supply displays error code 60 (tube won't start (start

Absorbing antireflection coating at 248 nm14 Nov 2004 02:54 GMT2
Gang, I'm in a bit of a jam and I'd appreciate your suggestions.  I have
a microfabrication process for building antenna-coupled tunnel junctions
for infrared detection.  It isn't original, but it works very well: over
top of a silicon wafer, apply 1 um of poly(methyl ...
Sugar-cube sized closed-loop flexure scanner developed by Fraunhofer institute13 Nov 2004 23:17 GMT1
The Fraunhofer institute appears to have come up with a closed-loop
scanning galvo that uses no bearings and fits a space the size of a
sugar cube. The intended application is laser-based raster projection
displays for cell phones or other personal electronics: the galvo +
Corning Glass Catalog13 Nov 2004 01:17 GMT5
Does anyone have a link or a personal copy of the Corning glass
catalog.  I have looked around for an hour and can't get a good link.
I am specifically looking for the CO550 material.  The only data
sheets I can find are for their 7940 and 7980 material.  Any help is

Can you kindly give me some suggestion?
Update: Eye Magic scanner problem (pics)12 Nov 2004 07:50 GMT2
It was indeed the coating on the magnet that was peeling off.
It took me over 2 hours with some micro tweezers and a xacto knife to
get all the pieces out.
